A good bet is a winning bet.  Nothing else will do.  Value bets are the creation of dudes pretending there's some serious investing going on in sports betting.  It's entertainment.  No mas.

I agree 100 % with the first part !!

 I disagree with the part about entertainment as, for some of us at least, it is about making real money and there no entertainment involved in any way shape or form

Are the Rangers a "Value" bet?  You get the Rangers which ain't bad, and a decent hurler on the hill and plus money.   A great value bet if I've ever seen one.  Who cares if it's a losing bet?

the rangers are not a good value bet at all today lewis on the road is horrendous and price at home is money

leave the value bets to the poker pros like myself

Value has to deal with the probability of a team winning a certain percentage in a certain situation over the course of a season, not just a 1 game scenario.  That is where you begin to determine "value."

I view it as pretentious bs.   The value in sports betting is the fun and the challenge of outmanuering your man.   But nobody wins so lets shit can the Wharton School of business veneer with this value bet malarkey.

Maybe for some its entertainment. For others, its serious business (just like the internet) and legit investing.

Like today astros are a good value bet because of the course of a season more times then not in this situation the astros will beat the cubs, will they today who knows.

I don't view betting value and doing this for entertainment as mutually exclusive of one another.

And value isn't pretentious......it's a smart way of doing things.

If Rangers not "a good value bet" does that mean, the Rays were a sucker bet inasmuch as no discernible reason for a play on Rangers.

I agree this value shyt is overrated. If I get a 2011 bentley for 30,000 and it normally goes for 250,000. But for some reason I can't ever get the car to run. Did I really get the Bentley at great value?

Yea, like I'm the only guy around here who ever made the wrong call on a game.  I''ve got confidence in my plays.  It's hard earned money we wager and you ain't got a powerful opinion about on a game as you lays your money down, than you're a wimp.

Oh, I'm such a fastidious little nerd and I just live for value bets.  Yea, I've been tracking these so-called value bets.  They rarely hit.  Some value.

Then do it your way.......good luck. Not sure why this thread was needed,it isn't going to change anyone's mind. Those who believe in value won't be swayed by this and those that think the value players are idiots still think that....glad you got this off your chest.

your determination of value may be different than others

you are making a blanket statement on something that is quite subjective

LAD is +110 tonight at home vs the Rocks

Garland v Ubaldo

LAD has won 3 in a row, Rocks have lost 3 in a row

streaks add value to teams on winning ones and remove from teams on losing streaks

outside of his last start, garland has allowed 3 ER or less in 6 IP+ in 5 straight. he got 13 runs support in those 5 starts

ubaldo has been terrible this year. he threw a million pitches last year and its catching up to him...this is why i avoided him in my fantasy drafts and laughed at others who took him. he is walking the world as well. his WHIP is up .4 vs last year

Dodgers at home + money are a value play. i just talked myself into it
