The Royals are the masters of making nothing out of something. They are the odds on favorite to be the first MLB team in history to get shutout while collecting more than 13 hits in a game (which is the current record)
 I'll look to the Astros tonite in a much better spot to collect a win at double the money odds.

You think houston and kc are comparable? Kc is not good, while houston is on a whole other level of not good, and in a weaker division.

Between Houston and St. Louis, guess which team has the better BA and OBP over the past 10 games ? Which starting pitcher has the better winning % for the season ? Which team is coming off a 19 inning loss ? Which team is playing for a new manager ? Where does the season series between these 2 teams stand after 6 games ? Who's taking who lightly ? What pitcher has been way above and beyond the norm over his last 3 starts and is due for fast regression ?

Mr Bator, K.C. is 14-17 v the East  & T.Bay is 12-16 v the Central Div, so no big differance .T.bat is 43-24 v K.C. in those games Avg Score T.Bay 3.8 - TBay 5.0 Price is 1-1 Home v K.C. & 0-1-1 o/u Home v K.C. Hocehvar is 0-3 at T.Bay & 2-1 o/u & is 2-5 SU & 3-4 o/u L 7 starts v T.Bay. Hocehvar is rated # 39 in Sagarin & Price is rated #4 .Tuesday is K.C. best day at 12-6 & T.Bay is 10-8. With all that said, it would not surprize to see K.C. Win or cover the RL , I liked your write up on this game, good job!

what's funny is that the ones that read this and tail your pick will be so scared it will only be a small play.  In fact there is so much fear because of last nights game for anyone to play the Royals.  The umps could get on the PA system and say we will be calling the game and make sure the Royals will win tonight and people will still be scared to back them and wouldn't do it either. 

Nothing is 100% but your write up makes for a great angle

Very nice writeup MrBator and good to see you back posting.

One other thing to note that I don't think has been mentioned yet is the Royals are not just some run of the mill bunch just looking to get the season over with. This relatively young team is playing hard everyday. Just look at the standings, they are 9-4 over their last 13 games and in the month of August they are tied for the 3rd best winning percentage in the majors with the Yankees and Rangers. The only two teams better in August have been the Rays and Nationals. All four of those other teams are going to make the playoffs. When garbage teams start to play well down the stretch it rarely gets noticed and that looks to be the case again with the Royals.

The difference is the Rays best offensive player was hurt...  so those stats can be scrapped....

@ Getty--  KC is not good???  They just swept the #1 team in their division, their offense puts the ball in play and they have a pitcher that hasn't given up an earned run in 3 starts!! (Guthrie)

I don't think that the Royals win here either, but see the whole picture...  the royals can beat any team in the league on any given night...  just not tonight against a pitcher who could make a case for the cy young award, playing in a very difficult place to win....

Could play them both, even on the RL, and make a profit if 1 hits.

I also had the Royals before this write-up in a parlay but this swayed me to put a small (and not scared as the poster says above)play on the royals..I always play small,I invest in coins and use some play money on sports just for entertainment purposes,maybe thats why ive only had to donate to the books twice this year. I believe alot in probability vs whos pitching in many games meaning that the team that is a dog is due to win depending on the circumstances and under these circumstances I see a great probability.

if kc does in fact win, i'll say this mr.b, you extremely outsmarted mr. vegas on this one. They didnt have to come out with such a high line if probability was more in favor of a kc win. I have to think linemakers didnt account or care about alot of what you wrote. I see consistency in your trends, why wouldnt oddsmakers?
