The umpire just said he should have gotten out of the way quickly.  It&#x27;s a crappy rule, plain and simple.  There is nothing the fielder can do and it directly hands everything to the runner.

You&#x27;re expected to not raise your legs..Middlebrooks definitely tried to trip him the second time he extended his legs..Like most people, Middlebrooks figured there was no way in hell they were going to call obstruction..and he was dead wrong..Jim Joyce should be applauded for this call..

C&#x27;mon man.  Have an un-biased view.  Middlebrooks legs were naturally falling towards the ground when he lifted them back up.  He knew what he was trying to do.  And trying to do it as subtle as possible.  But he got caught.  IMO, he should tell the boys in the locker room that he fcked up and Jim Joyce read him right.  Don&#x27;t let the bad call carry over to the next game.  Cause it wasn&#x27;t a bad call.

Middlebrooks lifting his leg had NOTHING to do with what the umpires ruled. They just had their post game conference and repeatedly stated that Middlebrooks needed to get out of the way quickly. It's just not something that should be called without a replay. Plain and simple.

I agree.  CM, try getting off the ground from your stomach.  Do your ankles have to be in the air?  Bad way to end the game, no question.  But Salty threw the errand ball.  Fu.ck the call.  Middlebrooks tried to trip him.  Salty threw the shiit away.  Thats baseball.

Joyce should have called cardinal base runner OUT immediately,for running out of the baseline.watch the play,yes he was obstructed,AFTER,he stumbled up and began running out of the baseline.

I&#x27;m not denying the fact that it was a dumb throw that probably should not have been made...but in that scenario the Cardinals should not have been gifted the winning run.  The Red Sox were able to have the good defensive awareness to make both key throws to home plate to get both runners out.

Tough scenario to be in all together in the first place.  2nd and 3rd less than two outs, game on the line... anything could have happened.  I feel the pain though.  I had no wager on this game and for good reason.  Did you watch?  Would you really really really want to have an investment on that shiit????  Really?  All luck.  And tonight Red Sox got unlucky.

Cardinal base runner was at 3rd base could have gotten up and ran home legally,within the base line,he didn&#x27;t,he ran home within the field of play where middlebrook was lying on the ground.i have no doubt that Joyce interpreted the obstruction rule correctly,but whats the rule for a base runner advancing out of the base path.I believe the baserunner should have been called out, immediately,rendering whatever middlebrooks did with his legs while on the ground meaningless.

i have no money on the game ,just watch alot of baseball,I see base runners called out all the time running from home to first base when they are inside the base line.cardinal baserunner was inside the baseline ,on the field of play when he was obstructed,i just feel that he should have been called out.what middlebrooks does on the ground after the fact is meaningless.

When I try to get up I tend to get my knees under me, not kick my feet up in the air. Besides, it doesn&#x27;t matter, he could be just laying there and it is still obstruction.This was a very easy call! I don&#x27;t care about either of these teams and I had no money on it. IT WAS OBVIOUS.The reason the cards won the game is because Saltalamachia can&#x27;t throw to third and Middlebrooks couldn&#x27;t make the play to catch it.Sox fans have no beef, none what so ever.
