It shouldn't have been obstruction because Middlebrooks wasn't in the runners path from 3rd to home.It can't be the fielders fault if the runner clumsily stumbles backwards into him.He wasn't in his path,use common sense.

You are either biased or a complete homer if you think it was not obstruction. It was blatantly obvious that Middlebrooks tried to trip him up.

Once the ball got into left field, Middlebrooks had nothing to lose by trying to trip the runner, because the runner scores easily.  So, smart move by Middlebrooks, but he got caught.

billybrooks just wants to play......let him play some more then he won't be doing frustrating stuff maybe......

 

 

should have walked jay so all this won't be such a fiasco...take my chances vs a less hitter in koz and if the same thing happens at least it was vs. a worse hitter...if they pinch hit there more power to them....

Exactly! Even though the fielder wasn't intentionally trying to interfere with the base runner, he still interfered regardless if there was no intent to interfere.

Hey rules are rules and since we made them we must abide by them.

CN I watched that play 10 times and Middlebrooks definitely raised hi legs to slow up the base runner.
Salty needs to ride the bench the remainder of this series as he is a liability. Currently he is 0-2 throwing to third needlessly!
