can someone #cancelculture Stephanie Alexandria Smith now?
"If you're not living life on the edge then you are taking up too much space!"™
Smith takes it right to the edge at all times. Most certainly a white commentator would be receiving a reprimand but Smith knows he can take it right to the edge. His job is to "stir the pot" and he does his job very well ladies and gentlemen.

I wish Ohtani was black and SAS was white and he said this... Hahaha imagine the backlash he would get... He would have either gotten fired or suspended indefinitely

Dumbest shit i've ever read. Do you know how many Americans, mostly black Americans, play basketball in numerous countries overseas without speaking a lick of the language?

Most natives of this country barely have a conversational mastery if our "native language". Don't get me started on the spelling, grammar, and syntax I see on this site.

It’s just how life is, get used to it.. currently black people don’t get canceled and that’s just the way it is, what Stephen A doucebag said was clearly racist and ignorant. Had anyone else of a different color said that this about a black player, he’d be canceled immediately and probably out of a job. If a white guy said Lamar Jackson can’t be the face of football because he talks in Ebonics you think he’d had a job tomorrow? No, espn won’t do shit they are the ones that live Stephen a smith and pay these segments on that shitty network

Smith cannot accept an Asian shifting mass media attention away from African American athletes. It’s a problem for Smith as sports in America is only Black (victim) vs White (villain). It is refreshing to see an Asian dominate baseball in America. I am looking forward to Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic to attract far more media attention in coming years. Tired of hearing Smith and Black athletes playing BS victim card. Tired of BLM.

....but does Lamar speak in ebonics? Ebonics isn't a language. It's not even a dialect. It's some horseshit some jag off with a liberal arts degree came up with that never became a thing.

It's extremely common overseas. And most are moderately conversational in English. In another ten years, the peoples of several developed countries across multiple continents, including South America ana Africa, will have better use of proper English than the average American and people will still say, "Why doesn't so and so learn English?!"

What percentage of the MLB is even black? I don't think his commentary had anything to do with an asian taking attention from black people as there aren't many black people in baseball to begin with. I think his point was that baseball is losing popularity in the country that spawned it and it doesn't help that one of the biggest up and coming stars can't really connect with an American fan base. I loved Ichiro. I loved like like Dasuke Matsuska, Nomo, ect. They weren't face of the league type of players though. Baseball was at a high point and there were no shortage of stars. Baseball is struggling to connect with younger, American fans. Ohtani is a transcendent type of player but you can't really market him because of the language barrier. That's all he was saying. It was still inappropriate and he should be punished.

Stephen A. Smith, a daytime drama actor, x-beat reporter, under contract with ESPN to do 'First Take' and give him the stage he's been seeking his entire career; he's categorized as a "love to hate" commentator. his priority to ESPN (and the major reason he's under contract, is based soley on his so called NBA connection to his close and inside ties to his Brothers' by which, do not identify with him, or have no where near the relationship he makes commentary, and responds to (he ran game on ESPN, they'll NEVER renew his contract)..case in example, Russell Westbrook. As the great Sir Charles Barkley stated in response to SAS Commentary regarding the Westbrook controversy "Stephen A. is clown looking from the outside, trying to figure out how to get on the inside" so he creates negativity, to get the attention all 'actors' seek, it's called publicity. he thrives on it...
I'm a MLB fan, purist, and bettor for 20+ years, Shohei is the greatest two way player since Babe Ruth...that's a fact, not an opinion.
he's exciting to watch he does it all....check his (pre-All Star) hitting & pitching stats
"he doesn't speak english" like the saying goes, 'the diablo is in the details'
I pay to watch them PLAY....Not SAY... to SAS if you're tuned in...Really! in due respect to the fans, do you really believe the LAA fans, or for that matter the fans of the remaining 29 teams give a -fuck- that he can't speak english you can't speak english...you can't speak english...you can't hit 33 HR...you can't pitch 4-1/ 3.40 era/ 84gm /67inn/ 12SB
Excellent commentary by all, good reads all the way around

@Contrarian21 you're far, far, off the grid of the modern era, your commentary is that of a re-incarnated dinosaur. to each his own..get in the zone.
Can you believe it?
Ladies & Gentlemen, "Starting for the American League; and warming up in the bullpen"
Shohei Ohtani
BTW MLB fans..He doesn't speak english...please forgive him, he's working on his G.E.D.
