Given the list of shows you enjoyed and the fact that you can currently watch the entire series, The Shield probably shouldbe #1 on your “to watch” list.
Besides it being a great show, another good thing about The Shield is that it doesn’t take a while to get into. You are pulled in from the very first episode (which is one of the, if not the, best series premiere I have ever seen).
I would be shocked if you didn’t at least like it.

I really like boxing so I might check out Lights Out soon. My friend had the seasons of Sons of Anarchy on DVD so I am going to start that for now.
Jaysvdubwhat- Have you seen Trailer Park Boys? I ask cause you are from Canada. I was told its a great show but I watched the couple episodes a while ago but never really got back to watching it. Is it worth it to watch that series?
Straightshooter- I have actually heard good things about Battlestar. The sci-fi thing kind turned me off from giving it a watch. I'll add it to the list of shows to eventually watch.
Has anyone ever watched undeclared (I think thats the name of hte show)? My friend told me its somewhat like Freaks and Geeks but it seems like it is difficult to find.
Hell yeah i have
sooo god damn funny that use to be my fav show when it was on. The 2 movies are good too.

I also think you should probably be looking for shows that are a completed series. When I’m looking for a new show to watch I would much rather get into a show that is already done and has 7 full seasons to watch than a show that is still running and only has one season under its belt.

A lot of good suggestions here. Absolutely agree with Big Bang Theory.
I've seen people suggest the Shield and Lights Out, a little surprised that I didn't see anyone mention Justified.
And if you want to go back a few years, I would suggest Dead Like Me, Firefly, and of course, Sports Night.
The pilot for Justified was one of the best I’ve ever seen. I, and a lot of people who watched it, thought I was seeing the beginning of a show that would rival The Shield. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. With the exception of the last few episodes it seemed like each episode was worse than the previous one. The vast majority of the first season was just a typical cop show with a new bad guy every week and basically no story arc.
I totally agree about Firefly though. That show was amazing. It’s kind of funny how I typically hate science fiction tv shows, yet Battlestar Gallactica and Firefly are two of my favorite shows of all time. I think that’s probably because they are shows about people that just happen to take place in the future rather than shows about a group that travels all over the universe discovering goofy alien races.

Lost (6 seasons, hooks you in from the first scene, somewhat disappointing finale but open to interpretation)
Leverage (2 seasons on Netflix, amusing, couple hot chicks)
Walking Dead was good at the start as StraightShooter said but it did slow down, more about the character development so far rather than just zombies chasing people. Only 6 episodes in the first season, hopefully the next season has more.
Rome (HBO, 2 seasons. Good first season, second was kind of weak)
Eastbound and Down people either love or hate. I loved it personally. McBride is great and the secondary roles are hilarious. Stevie Janowsky is the best.
