just finished watching the first season on dvd and wow what a great fucking show.  possibly even better than the first few seasons of sopranos.  if you like any type of police drama, or are a fan of hbo programming, you will love this show.

ive just gone thru the first 2 seasons, i definately liked season 1 better than 2(season 2 was great no doubt, but i couldnt stand ziggy and alot of the longshoremen shit didnt interest me or confused me a little).  from what ive heard, season 3 will focus mainly on the barksdale people again.... gotta love Omar as well

Only a handfull of people like this show?  Damn, IMO the greatest show ever created, so great that I feel a person is missing out by not watching it.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Season 1 was just exceptional, slowly building a case on someone where the don&#x27;t even have an updated photo?  Never went to fast, perfect pacing.  Bubs is the shit.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Season 2 I thought was almost as great, again not rushing while they slowly build a case, never tried to force McNutty into the episodes.  I really like the Stevedors plot, but Ziggy was annoying.  I was amazed at how well they followed up the greatness of S1.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Those were my favorite 2 seasons but 3, 4, and 5 were incredible also.  Marlo was vicious.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Probably more people like the show now since this thread was active.

Electric-Couldn&#x27;t agree more, undoubtedly best show ever in my opinion.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Season 1, then 3 are my favorite...but loved them all.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;And I&#x27;m born and raised 30 min from Baltimore (and spent a weekend upstairs in Baltimore City jail  / ) so that just added to the realistic aspect.

I agree Electric but I liked Ziggy. He might be annoying at times but he was hilarious in his fuck ups. &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Another character I like a lot was Brother Malzone...what a badass !

dont get me wrong, the wire is AWESOME and I&#x27;m totally addicted, and the Sopranos is fucking awesome too, seen every one, but I really think OZ is the best show in television history. The quality of acting in that show is absolutely superb. It is also truly unique... some great acting by jk simmons, the winters brothers, and many from the wire and from law and order. great cameos - rick fox, ll cool j, luke perry.&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;I really think oz is also wonderful because of other reasons - its shakespearean style with augustus (and others) narrating and the focus on heavy character acting, its like watching a play, except instead of hte players being confined to a stage, its a "prison" set.

I catch a lot of crap for it but i think its better than sopranos.... very very close though with entourage in 3rd .....a very distant distant 3rd.

Deadwood and Rome were def worth watching....
Big Love? that show blows. Tried to get into 6 feet under... That show blows too.... christ how pretentious can you be.... not a single likeable character!

The Sopranos turned to shit after S3, might not ever watch an episode of The Sopranos again, even S1 and S2.
