I was all jacked up to see this movie in the theatre largely due to the cast. Didn't make it, so I rented the Blue-ray on the first day.

It has it's moments but it's weak. Lots of artsy slow motion b.s., soundtrack is way overrated (I remember it being one of it's strong points in reviews).

An overall disappointment.

i just watched it also. Kind of a let down, but it was definitely pretty solid. Not sure why he did what he did at the very end though

Really Mes? Like leaving dead bodies with his blood and theirs all over the place, walking around in a blood stained jacket? I was really looking forward that to show and it didn't meet my most modest expectations.

thought it was pretty unique and original. decent movie but I agree that it was sluggish.

One of the finest movies of 2011, in my opinion. 

Plus the opening scene, with the Clippers game finishing in the background while he perfectly times his escape to the Staples Center, is classic.

Not insipid and predictable like most other faux action/gangster movies where you can essentially be brain dead watching the shoot-outs, fights and numbing car chases/crashes. But that is what appeals to most folks...

Cinematograpy - Great
Music - Not bad, pretty good overall
Script/Dialogue - Absolute Garbage

The weak script with the weaker dialogue negates all the positives and made the movie average at best to me.

Exactly. That's what most people who dislike this movie expect, whether they admit it or not(one lady in Michigan actually brought a lawsuit because the movie did not meet her expectations).They yearn for Vin Diesel and his superb acting skills. 

The starter of this thread considers that cinematic classic, Law Abiding Citizen, a movie worth watching twice on the same weekend...and has no insight or understanding of Drive...nuff said...

For starters I've never seen any of the Fast and Furious movies. 

Secondly, I wonder what's so great about watching a movie where a guy walks around says nothing and just looks at everything for the 1st third of the movie. As if any woman in the world wouldn't run away from this guy as some type of psycho (which actually he is). So he helped the girl and the kid down the hall - that took 1/3 of the show. BFD.

Also, please explain the relevance of after killing people, leaving the jacket on with blood all over it and just going about his business, and while you at it, why leave the money and not get it to the widow and the kid? Just a little reality please. Cranston & Perlman's roles were so small due to all the time spent watching the star look around I wonder why they even accepted them. Although I had high expectations for this movie I know I live in a world that requires lower and lower expectations.

Drive doesn't even meet them.

And Mellow, please explain the great deep message you got from this movie.

Just like hipsters "get" and like music you will never be able to appreciate, there is always that guy that acts like he saw the movie on a deeper level, that you just didn't "see it through his lense as a director would". (A one semester camera class in college is usually the cause of this). I had two of them for roommates in college and it was hilarious.

Those guys WANTED Drive to have been what they say it is. Interesting storyline. Some cool cinematography. But the rest didn't even hold my interest. I spent half the movie wondering why he wouldn't speak. And the bloody jacket had me laughing. That heppens in Fast and the Furious and those amatuer movie director critics everywhere would be having a field day with it. I didn't hear the hype until after I watched it, which always ruins movies for me, so that wasn't it.

That said, good movie. I told a couple people to watch it. But "movie of the year" claims are a subtle way of saying "I think I watch movies better than other people".

A guy I work with was harsher than I was on this "film". This is called a "film" because calling it a "movie" somehow degrades in.

He thought the guy was retarded for the 1st half hour (which I can't put up a big argument against). He definitely looks "slow" but man can he drive. :)

That coat takes the cake, it's sooooo cool to the people that see more in this "film" than there is. I was originally drawn to this because Cranston & Pearlman were in it. I ask myself now, why did they even bother?

An absolute ton of people have seen it and liked the movie, myself included. Some people just say stuff based on anything but their opinion.

Just flat out wrong. This movie could have been called Sling Blade 2

I don't know you mean by that? Sling Blade is good though.

Something I do know is that if you play your cards right, then your legal guardian will most likely take you to the next Transformers movie.

This movie was laughably bad! Unwatchable!!! life is to short to waste time on this film. 0 out of 10 for me.
