This is awesome news. Rome was one of the best shows ever.
I Claudius will be remade as a mini series along with BBC. Same producers as Rome.
IF it's HALF as good as the 1976 BBC-PBS 13 part series with Derek Jacobi as Claudius, it will be OUTSTANDING.
the BBC-HBO people will be smart if they just re-use that script and staging because it's one of the best acted TV series I have ever seen. also has a pre-Aliens John Hurt as Caligula and a pre-Star Trek Patrick Stewart as Sejanus.
been hoping for years that either BBC America or PBS would re-run it.

At least Rome ended with some kind of closure.
Deadwood ended right before the climax of the first 3 seasons. I really wish they would have at least made a movie.

Bruno Heller says he wants to produce a theatrical wrap-up to hiscritically beloved and prematurely canceled HBO drama "Rome."
"There is talk of doing a movie version," he said. "It's movingalong.
It's not there until it is there. I would love to round thatshow off."
--
HBO executives have since admitted that axing the show probably wasa mistake. (idiots)
---
"I discovered halfway through writing the second season the showwas
going to end," Heller said. "The second was going to end withdeath of
Brutus. Third and fourth season would be set in Egypt.Fifth was going to
be the rise of the messiah in Palestine. Butbecause we got the heads-up
that the second season would be it, Itelescoped the third and fourth
season into the second one, whichaccounts for the blazing speed we go
through history near the end. There's certainly more than enough history
to go around."
(So could have run for 5 seasons. Again IDIOTS who axed it)

well your missing a great story with great acting, some of the best ever in a mini-series. like I said, IF the new HBO-BBC re-make is even HALF as good, it will be a success.

i have gotten used to what they can do now in terms of special effects, props and such.
well I guess that movie classics like Metropolis (1927), Laurence Olivier's Richard III (1955) and even the recent Tim Roth, Dougray Scott To Kill a King (2003) are definately NOT on Mikael99's watch list.
maybe the new HBO-BBC I Claudius will have lots of CGI "lions and tigers and bears, oh my" for you

Same with Carnivale. 2 excellent seasons and left with huge cliffhangers.
