Snap, that EZTV....Is there any downside to using it. ie:risk of possible harm to the computer, or anything else that you could think of?

My comp. crashing had nothing to do with the things we are talking about here.

I never looked into the EZTV site really because I am happy with what I have....but I'm sure it's fine.

All I know is EZTV is who I look for on Mininova if I want to download any TV program.

I can answer a couple of questions in here:

1) There is absolutely nothing harmful on EZTV. That's what is so great about the website. Other torrents sites often have FAKE files under the name of something you're looking for or files that require passwords in order to watch them. All the files on eztv are legit and like I said, they have a great network of seeders to keep old shows alive and the new ones at great speeds.

2) I know some websites got shut down because of P2P technology but I'm sure there is no trouble for Canadian users that have, for example, Utorrent running and are actively downloading the stuff made available. In the USA, I have no idea how it works although it's pretty universal that anything copyright which is not bought should not be found near you. It's the very first time I hear about a customer getting a notice from the internet provider but then again, I know the laws are much more strict down South.

3) As for burning the data to cd or dvd, I don't do that so I'm not sure whats the best program to do so. (BTW, external hard drives are going very cheap these days, I think it's the best investment to get stuff out of the computer or laptop while making it portable ). If you do want to test nero 5 again, try downloading THIS RIGHT HERE. They have a couple of versions of nero including #5 I believe.

I have seen this but mostly in movies...and I never load anything that requires a password.

Downloading Nero 5 now....looks like it may take a little while....after downloading do you know how to put it on my desktop?

Did you select only the 5th version or are you downloading the whole pacakge?

Yeah but once you start the download, there should be a way for you only to download the folder containing the 5th version. Are you using utorrent? With that program, you can select which folder in the torrent file you want if you don't need it all.

Snap, I wasn't trying sound like a know it all. My Dad is from St. Catherines. Brother went to Lakefield College outside Peterborough, McMaster, and Univ. of Toronto Med School. We own a cottage in Algonquin Park. Yup. Way before it isn't legal anymore. Dad met my Mom there in the 50s when my Dad was a canoe guide as hois Summer college gig......

All that got his goofy Canuck butt was a one way trip to Ohio where they hatched me and my two brothers......

Hey coldnsap - You need to get utorrent as your bittorrent program. It allows users to select which folder they want to download before starting to download so you can easily avoid downloading the whole 1.5 GB when the file you want or need is only 80 MB.

Eli.....Sorry to take so long to get back to you but this is what happened...............

Like I said I am no computer wiz and it took forever to load the Nero and I still couldn't figure out how to get it going so I deleted it all from my system and thought I would try this.....

I went to YOUTUBE and typed in " BURNING MOVIES TO DVD "

This is what I got.....A 13 year old kid taking me step by step on how to do it with DVDFLICK.

So I tried it and burned the movie UP which is 1;33 min. long.

It took close to 2 hours for it to burn but I popped it into my DVD player and it works fine. What a relief.  

Thanks for your help anyway and I hope this helps others who are as computer challenged as I am.
