and MIB is the dark .................kinda Like a heaven vs hell. .. jesus vs satan something
when people die they go to the island, and if they leave the island (purgatory) they get to heaven, but if they get killed on the island they either get reborn( into flash sideways as we know it) or maybe they go to hell? not 100% on this
the light that MIB cant find is the way to the earth, and if he can get to it then........ hell on earth ... armageddon........... thats why jacobs fake mom made him drink the stream as he made Jack do(well, not made)
Jesus and Satan are playing a game (or light and dark, maybe not biblical, but kinda is) with rules.
the candidates are Christians? the bible says once you accept Christ, you are his forever, therefore MIB (Satan) cant harm them........... he would have to trick them into killing each other.
i dont know how whitmore plays into this really,,,,,,,,,, Dez is an archangel perhaps, going from purgatory to differnent areas in time.
the island has something to do with magnets and the archangel Dez, withstood whitmores magnetic test ...... proving hes an angel?????
these are just some random thoughts i had while watching tonights episode
I applaud the effort but the powers that be have said numerous times that the island is not purgatory so i doubt this whole thing is religious based.

Liked the episode. Ben sounded angry that he, King Manipulator, was manipulated by MIB. So, I think, he is looking to return the favor. However, I think that in some type of scrum, he will be accidentally tossed into the light by Jack and the cycle begins again. MIB will be killed but I am not sure who will do it or how it is going to be done. My money is on Sawyer with MIB's dagger.
Agree with poster that said it sucked the way Richard was killed. Believe this statement applies to Widmore too. He obviously knew that Ben was incapable of protecting the island since Jacob never spoke with Ben. He knew that Ben was being led by MIB yet he got killed before he could really confront Ben about their rivalry.
So many questions to answer

maybe hes not dead or maybe he wanted to die because he hadnt seen his wife in so many years and was just ready to go (thats why he went looking for MIB)

two things on richard
maybe hes not dead or maybe he wanted to die because he hadnt seen his wife in so many years and was just ready to go (thats why he went looking for MIB)
I think Richard is dead. It seemed like MIB thought for a while he could use Richard and therefore kept him alive until now. At this point, I don't want to see any characters that are presumed dead to somehow be alive.
I don't mind that Ben went back to his old ways but I didn't particularly like how it happened. It almost seemed too easy. Would have liked more provocation. I like idea of him becoming the new smoke monster.
I think there will be a lot of unanswered questions when all is said and done. Things like, what exactly is the light at the center of the island and why is the fate of the world dependent upon it. In my opinion that is sometimes better than providing answers that are disappointing. A huge part of this show's intrigue has questioning the meaning of things and I don't have a problem with letting some of that live on beyond the life of the show itself.
Here's a few questions. If that light at the center of the island is essentially good then why did it turn Jacob's brother into something evil? Was it because of Jacob's intent when he sent him down to it? And if Jacob's mother was the previous smoke monster, how was she also the protector of the light? Seems contradictory to the current order of things. Who or what was she protecting it from if she was the smoke monster? Mankind?
Real interested to find out what Whitmore mission and motives were.

been doing a lot of thinking about this show this week.......in light of the series finale and all............some thoughts:
(1) Richard is most certainly dead.....not all characters will get a grand exit, nor should they really (even if fans of that character feel he/she warrants it)....he wanted to die and, most importantly, FLocke couldn't turn him (despite multiple attempts)...he was useless to MIB...its over;
(2) I also believe Ben is scheming and pulling the ultimate con on MIB......he simply won't let the island be destroyed......and IMO will likely wind up the new Smokey to Jack's new Jacob;
(3) still haven't entirely figured out the LAX sideways........but we know it most certainly is immensely important, else there wouldn't have been near the focus all season on it...........some how there will be a merge with what's going on with the island........but which one controls whether people live?.........have to side with the island here;
(4) Widmore's plan has failed...........he had a rather weak plan to kill MIB....lobs bombs at him.......fence went down with ease....then he just shows up unarmed on the main island (thought this was beyond bizarre).......all he has left is his fail-safe option (Desmond);
(4) Desmond obviously will have a huge role....but what exactly?....can't believe he leads to the island sinking......again, don't see Ben allowing that to happen..........I see some sort of confrontation at the "light"/cave/well whatever..........with MIB attempting to get Dez to go down it.......and then maybe Ben sacrifices himself by throwing himself down, saving the island....yet becoming the new Smokie

The reason Des is there is because he can "transform energy." He's there because he can figure out how to get the light into all of the remaining candidates, and they can pass around to people forever.
If Des does that, it doesn't matter if the island blows up. As long as the candidates escape without being killed, the MIB will be stuck there forever.
Remember - in the first episode of this season, the island is underwater, and they fly over it. So something definitely happens to the island.

I was under the impression that Richard was immortal. Are you sure he's dead?.....I was flicking back and forth to the Celtic game.......missed some of the campfire scene but I saw Kate ask about the list of names at the lighthouse....Does the list mean that Kate Sawyer and Hurley are destined to die too?

Christian told Jack that some died before and some died after so I took it as when they die their timelines connect. So while Penny is still alive in the original timeline when she dies she will be connected with the current timeline. Like when Jack dies on the island at the end he is finally connected to everybody in the flashsideways and he remembers everything.

For 6 years of anyones time that was bullshit ending...
But I did like the show it just gave no answers and was just a long review of the shows history...
Big fan of the show and wasn't too happy the way it ended either. Just a bunch of corny reunion flashbacks and a ton of commercials. Was expecting a big battle w/ Flocke/MIB...
Might have to rewatch to see if I missed anything or watch the alt endings on Kimmel

We'll go with that then unless someone says different.
Didn't see Michael or Walt either though.
