Kick-Ass.
I was pleasantly surprised. Story isn't perfect, but it zips along pretty well. Nick Cage is great. Hit Girl might be the best new film character in a decade. It's even got a great song by the Dickies.

don't know IF Chloe Grace Moretz did her own stunts as Mindy Macready aka "Hit Girl" BUT they were excellent. definately the MOST interesting character in the movie
watched two real "turkeys" recently on the suscription movie channels.
Malice in Wonderland was a convoluted mess that even the luscious Maggie Grace couldn't save. uaually in a "Alice in Wonderland" re-do you can figure which characters are based on the original. NOT with THIS peice of British RUBBISH.
It's Kind of a Funny Story started off like ir was going to be as a teen "One Flew Over the CocKoo's Nest" but went down hill REAL fast. Zach Galifianakis had some somewhat funny scenes BUT they were few and far between. just kind of dragged on and was overall VERY boring.
don't waste your time with EITHER of these two low budget WRECKS

Battle: Los Angeles (aka Battle: LA) 2011
I found it to be kind of a ground warfare ripoff of the 1996 Independence Day script complete with the ending BUT with oodles of ordnance and pretty much non-stop action IF that's all you want in an "action" movie. does have the luscious Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast and the Furious, Avatar, Machete) as an Air Force tech sergeant that joins up with the Marine platoon during the battle.
overall I found it to be overly long with a cookie cutter plot. they could probably have cut 30 minutes from it and no one would have noticed.

recorded yesterday and going to watch today or tomarrow when there isn't either foots or pucks on. with the few cuts I saw, the subject of corporate cutbacks DOES look depressing.
Casino Jack (2010) VERY well acted by Kevin Spacey, Barry Pepper and Jon Lovitz. kind of begs the question "WHY was Abramoff and Congressman Bob Ney the ONLY people to go to JAIL!!!" esp the likes of Tom DeLay, Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist? I give it
Elephant White (2011) decent action movie set in Thailand with Djimon Hounsou (who played Cinque in Amistad and Juba in Gladiator) and Kevin Bacon. the rest of the cast is Thai. pretty good ordnance and "Kung Foo" fighting. OK BUT, like most "shoot 'em ups" was a very transparent plot. DID had a really screwy somewhat unexpected ending. I would say it's worth IF you like the genre.

Straw dogs was blah. I don't remember it being in the theatre or seeing trailer for it, but I guess it was.
Same movie you've seen a hundred times, you know exactly what's going to happen.
I guess 14 yr olds need their own new version of it tho'.

watch late New Years eve after coming back from the Las Vegas midnight fireworks. "a little depressing"? I could see where this could send someone who was a long time employee of a company that has been downsized or outsourced, over the edge.
that being said, I think it's a "must see" considering the subject is so current. GREAT acting esp by Tommy Lee Jones as Gene McClary who is the ONLY top executive that isn't a totally greed bastard and Chris Cooper as Phil Woodward the career "company man" exectutive in his 60's that gets downsized. really wanted to see someone walk up to Craig T. Nelson as CEO James Salinger and shoot him in the fucking head.
probably THE best movie EVER depicting the absolute FEAR among employees of a company when downsizing is happening esp for those that are older workers that have been there their whole careers.

Amazing movie... One of my faves...
just reading their Wikipage, it looks interesting. has it been on any of the TV movie channels lately? Elijah Wood is one of my favorite young actors. he was GREAT in the little known 2005 Everything Is Illuminated which is another "unknown" with an excellent plot and acting.
