Citizen X (1995)
was on HOB the other night and it's a first rate crime drama with excellent acting. the plot is about the investigation of the Ukrainian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo who was convicted of killing 53 women and children, and the efforts of detectives to capture him back in the old Soviet Union from 1978 thru Chikatilo's eventual capture and execution in 1994.
As well as being a crime thriller, the movie depicts how Soviet propaganda and bureaucracy contributing to the failure to capture Chikatilo; his crimes were not widely reported for fear of revealing that such things ever occurred in the USSR. the Soviet police actually had this monster in in custody in 1984 BUT he was released because "he was a party member" and "seriel killings only happen in decedant western societies"

hopefully it will be on HBO again in the near future. it's one of the best crime dramas I have seen in years.

The Wrestler- I'm a little late on this one, and all my friends ranged from AWESOME to WORST MOVIE EVER to anywhere in between on it. I thought it was fucking brilliant. Ram was awesome and I felt for him throughout the entire movie. I liked the side story with Marisa Tomei. I liked the NJ vibe it had. I liked the side story with his daughter. I liked how it ended. Did she leave? Did he die? I think the answer was a big NO on both of those, but I'm in the minority there. I liked how it was shot(no surprise to find out Darren Aronosky directed it as he did two excellent movies prior). Best movie I have seen in a long time!!!!
2012- Worst piece of shit I have ever seen. Fucking awful from top to bottom. The last hour I probably focused on 3 minutes. AWFUL.
The Lovely Bones- I liked this. I popped this in last night after dinner with the woman. Before the opening credits began, my hands were creeping towards her nether regions with intent for some fuck action, but the movie's vibe quickly stole my mojo. Enjoyable flick. Very sad and yet uplifting in the end. Dragged a little, but not to where I was begging for it to end.

Agree completely. . . fantastic piece of work.

.The Lovely Bones- I liked this.
Agree with you on the Wrestler but curious as to why you think he might have lived after the final shot? Never crossed my mind, so just want to see if I missed something.
Thought the Lovely Bones was a piece of shit movie made for 10-16 year old girls. Do not know why Wahlberg or Tucci signed on for that flick. Times must be tough in Hollywood.
Going to see Shutter Island tomorrow. Hope its as good as the book.

Shutter Island looks pretty badass.
Honestly I have no idea why the entire world thought he died after that final jump off the ropes. It wouldn't in a million years have crossed my mind if everyone didn't say it. I just saw it as an open ending on a few different levels. He is having post surgery chest pains, and yet he goes 100% to please his fans. Does he land that elbow and drop dead? Maybe, but I didn't see it that way. Does Marisa Tomei leave? Maybe, maybe not. Will he get over the latest setback with his daughter? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, AWESOME flick.
Watched CAPRICA last night. Nice jumpstart to the series on Syfy. I would recommend it for any Battlestar Galactica fans out there(as it details how the first Cylon was created), but I'm not sure if anyone without BSG experience will get it. It has a decent standalone story about a terrorist attack and how two men deal with the deaths of their daughters, but a lot of the lore and backstory of the BSG world will be wasted on newcomers. I thought it was a decent beginning to what hopefully will be a decent television show.

Inglorious Basterds- Wow, what a flick! A lot of people knock Tarantino, but imo the guy never made a bad movie. This might be his best. This was one badass motherfucking movie from the first scene to the end credits. Pitt was awesome, as well as the "person Hunter." I liked how a few different times throughout the movie, you can almost relate with the bad guys, while the "good" guys are almost savages.
