watched Red 2 (2013) yesterday with a Dish_TV PPV comp. thought it was a decent action movie and pretty funny in spots. stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Catherine Zeta-Jones. think both Helen Mirren as the MI6 assassin Victoria and Anthony Hopkins as the "nutty professor" Dr. Edward Bailey were the most interesting characters in the film. Hopkins esp brings his best menacing "Hannibal Lecter" to his part.
I would say a good "action-comedy" worth a PPV or Netflix shot IF you like the genre. has the requisite "oodles of ordnance" and "stuff that goes boom". didn't feel like I had been "ripped off" using a PPV comp certificate and would watch it again. I rate it

Watched The Company Men last night.
Kind of depressing, but a good movie. It basically showed how the United States doesn't give a rats behind about the American worker anymore. Some guy worked for a company for almost his whole life then they kept cutting everyone and finally got to him. He tried to find something again but couldn't so he killed himself.
The days of working for a company for a long time and getting a nice retirement are coming to an end.
Today it's screw everyone over and see whose left standing.
So sit back and watch some football and enjoy your Thanksgiving with friends and family, because the leaders of your country could care less about you. In my opinion, no way to run a country.

agree 100% VERY well acted movie by all involved esp Chris Cooper as 30 year, "up from the ranks" senior manager Phil Woodward who gets "downsized" (aka fukked over) and Tommy Lee Jones as Senior VP Gene McClary fighting the CEO (Craig T. Nelson) to save as many jobs at the company as possible.
IS a somewhat depressing movie. when I was young there was somewhat of a "compact" between labor and management and EVERYONE went to the BANK. NOW days the CEO's and their Wall Street Weasel masters are just interested in HOW much money HOW fast.
these jerkoffs are going to wake up some day with Americans NO LONGER being consumers for their products because they won't have the JOB that pays the MONEY to BUY them. they need to revisit the thoughts of the great Henry Ford who when asked WHY he was paying the then outrageous rate of $5 a day to his line workers replied "that way they can buy my cars". I don't think some Chinese or Indian kid making 50 cents an hour is going to be able to buy the I-pod or Nike shoes they make let alone an automobile

forget who recommended it in a discussion of Robin Williams films last month but just watched Awakenings (1990) last night. it is the fictionalized story of British neurologist Oliver Sacks (Williams as Dr. Malcolm Sayer in the movie) discovery that the Parkinson's syndrome drug "L-Dopa" was useful in treating catatonic patients. Robert De Niro plays Leonard Lowe the first patient that Dr Sayer cures.
excellent movie well worth watching. very different part for De Niro from his usual tough guy or gangster. definite
