I have a daughter and when we spen time together we usually go to the movies. I always let her pick what we see. This week she picked Penelope and I am very lucky because I never would have seen the movie other wise.
The movie stars Chrisina Ricci (child star of Adams Family Values and Casper) and James McVoy. It is a lovely twist on the classic fairy tail Beauty and the Beast. Ricci's character is born with a Pig's snout for a nose from a curse place on the family because of ancestors breaking the heart of a daughter of the local witch. The curse can only be broken from "one of their kind" which is rich blue blood type. Penelope's mother is totally controling in attempts to keep
her safe from the world or so she says but it becomes appearant that the mother's main focus is preventing her own embarrashement over Penelope's best interest. Lots of hillarious comedic relief in the film and wonderfully written script. Reese Witherspoon appears in the film and is also one of the producers. Acting of the characters is great...just a wonderful film all the way around. A must see so rush to the theater and prepare to live happily ever after.
