This documentary simply made me laugh so hard that I hurt. I have never really seen much of Bill Maher before this, but he is quick, logical and completely right on in this film. It is absolutely riotous to see the people that he interviews try to justify their faith against facts and reason. I loved it. Granted, it probably isn’t for everyone, just those with an open mind and a sense of humor.

I don't really like him much either but this shit was hilarious and brilliant. Worth a look.
How can you say the documentary was hilarious? Yea, some funny shit happened, but that is not the point of the movie. Didn't it seem like he was trying to push his beliefs onto you? I especially liked the part where they talked about the other religions before christianity having so much in common. It makes you think

Thing is, it won't be for everyone. It's a different kind of humor. It's that kind where it's so shockingly absurd and insane to watch that it's fucking hilarious. Of course he's pushing his beliefs onto the viewer. What documentary does not? It all depends on your thoughts about religion BEFORE watching the movie. I would not expect a Catholic to find this movie hilarious. I really should have mentioned that it's hilarious from a atheist/agnostic view point. Then again, why the hell would a Catholic be watching a "documentary" called " Religulous " . I wasn't referring to the one-liners or the funny shit that happened. I was talking about the movie and the premise in itself.

Are you implying that i'm a closed-minded catholic with no sense of humor?

Of course not ABcapper. I was trying to answer the question when you quoted me about finding the movie hilarious. The fact that someone did not enjoy this movie gives me no right to classify them in any way nor make an unadvised judgment about their personality. What I was implying is the context in which I found the move entertaining. That is all.

Nicely put. It doesn't help when Bill Maher goes to the Oscars and acts like the documentary should have been nominated. Don't get me wrong, I found his work fantastic but no way could this have been nomination material at some event like the Oscars. Not a good move.

Did you watch the movie? He says over and over during the movie that he doesn't know, he doubts religions and he DOESN'T BELIEVE ANYTHING. It's the religious that are pushing beliefs onto you and that was his point. Dude, you wasted 2 hours of your life as that shit went right over your head.
Very good movie for those who can understand it.

Maher is smug, but he definitely sheds light on how people's convictions can create real polarity. Then again, most people with a 10th grade education realize this. But Maher's able weave his dry humor with the issue to good effect .... I'd say it's worth the $3.99 rental -- unless it's the last $3.99 in your bank account and there's a special on King Cobra at 7-11
