I think you might be onto something goldensheet. All of you had good angles. I like this thread a lot because it seems like almost all of us agree Rourke was THE man this year and deserved to win... it is just that you guys were cynical/aware enough of how this BS Academy operates to bet on a lesser performance knowing it would win, while I operated from this outlook that they would be fair and lost a few hundred off that perception.
Lesson learned. Mad respect to all who made this call and I hope you got good odds... he was +200 on some sites. Far, far from the most money I have lost on a single event but for some reason this one stings more than most of my bigger losses. Shit, I lost four times as much money on Federer to beat Nadal in the Aussie final and this one bothers me more!
What is so stupid is that by doing this for BS reasons whatever effect the Academy is hoping to have is probably backfiring. "He only won because it was a gay role" is what a lot of people are saying, true or not, and I hardly think that idea is out there creating pro-gay sympathy.
