By foreign language film I mean foreign produced as well as not being in English,as opposed to the film being set in Europe or Asia with English speaking dialogue with the native language mixed in between.

I hate dubbed versions. The mouth not going with the words really bothers me. I would much rather read the subtitles than have to deal with that. I have mentioned them in other threads but "City Of God" and "City Of Men" were both really good films, both from Brazil.

Just watched another good one today, Sin Nombre about two stories intertwined with a Mara Salatrucha gang member on the run after killing his leader and a Honduran girl and her family on their way to the States.
It's definitely worth a watch

Friend (Korean) - pretty cool movie about 4 friends growing up and getting into trouble together. As they get older, 2 go straight while the other 2 join different gangs and their friendships are tested.

I know this does NOT count but when in the US Army in W.Germany in 1984 I went to see a movie with my German Girlfriend... I can't remember what movie it was but they also showed The Dirty Dozen with subtitles... I swear to God it's true.
I felt like I was surrounded by Nazi's... very weird feeling just sitting their with my crew cut hair and all those Germans.
It was all good in the end... for me. Ha,ha,ha.
Just wanted to share that weird night at the movies.

Last night I watch "The Winter War" (1989) online. It's set in the Finnish point of view regarding the Soviet attack of Finland during the 2nd World War.
When it started I though... This is gonna be lame.
But the more I watch, the move I enjoyed the film(w/English subtitles).
Some pretty graphic sceens but then they avoid showing some others as if it would be to much... made me confused. I guess they only show what their special effects crew could do without having it look fake. If you watch it you will see what I mean.
Overall I actually thought it was a good movie and recommend it.
I've been looking for War movies and have a nice list I'm working on watching. As I watch them I'll try and post my thoughts. Many on my list are foreign films.
