If you like OLD BOY (Korean), then you've got to like I SAW THE DEVIL (Korean) which is new for 2010.  Movie is great.

Damn Covers won't let me post Hanguk special characters.

Couple of my faves:

North Face - Based on a true story in 1936 of German Alpinists trying to climb the north face of the Eiger in the Alps.  

As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me - Based on a true story of a German soldier in WWII (Clemens Forell), who is captured by the Russians and sent to Siberia to a labor camp, and he escapes only to trudge across Russia for 3 years to get back home to Germany and his family.

Flame and Citron -  Based on a true story of the Dutch Resistance in WWII.    

Rififi - Great heist film.  About a 28 minute stretch during the heist where there is no dialogue.  

Army of Shadows -  French Resistance during WWII.

Le Cercle Rouge and Le Samourai -  I'm a fan of Jean-Pierre Melville as a director and Alain Delon as an actor.  

Bob Le Flambuer - Another Melville film.  A heist film and Bob is an old-time gangster and gambler.  It was remade into "The Good Thief"  with Nick Nolte, which I enjoyed as well even though that one isn't a foreign film.

Comedy movie "El Rudo y El Curso" - Its about two brothers that make it big in soccer and wind up losing everything.  Gael Garcia Bernal is in it, the same actor that came out in Amores Perros and "Y Tu Mama Tambien.

It is a good movie Mr. Skubishack.  Just to think what Forell went through for 3+ years.  Please do me a favor and let me know what you think of it.  No one I know will watch foreign language films.  And as you had said you like war movies, Flame and Citron is fantastic.  You can't go wrong with it.

Higway Patrolman by Alex Cox (Sid and Nancy) - mostly for the long one shot at the accident scene.

These 3 movies are must see.. hollywood are coming out with their version but they are no match to the orginal ones.

Seen the first two.  Great movies.  Missed the Hornets nest at the theater, but it was only there for about a month or so.  Looking forward to seeing it.  I do get the feeling that Hollywood will somehow screw them up.
