I was never a true dead head but I always loved their music.

Good tunes and live performances are hard to come by.

Same here

Only show I attended was Dylan and the Dead show Anaheim '87. Always loved the music however only saw them once live. Have a friend who travelled around and saw over 100 shows.

Used to have hair down to my a$$ in the mid 90's...Was in Soldier Fields parking lot on 7/9/95. Franklin's Tower is probably my all-time favorite song.

I still consider myself a headbanger at heart tho'.

Heard the last Ripple they ever did, which was also the 1st in a long time.Rumor has it that they were tricked into playing it from someone purporting to be from the make a wish foundation  from someone who was dying.

Search, if you have not heard the "Dont Let Go" from the Jerry release of the same title cough up the $20 man.Hell, if ya dont like it i'll send the 20,and i'm a man of my word..for the most part.I still miss them but i still miss my favorite dog and he's been gone 30 years.Now go git that cd!

 I saw them 17 times between April 1984 and Sept 1994 in various places in the Northeast. Most of the shows were good ,but I saw a few bad shows where Jerry was all smacked out.Towards the end ,the whole scene got to be a real drag with tons of people showing up with out a ticket...looking to get wasted.
  I never understood until my last show that all those people holding  up there hands looking for tickets ..DID NOT ACTUALLY HAVE ANY MONEY !!! I had an extra seat for a 94 MSG show and it took me almost an hour to sell it,because no one would buy the seat at face value !!! Just a bunch of arrogant clowns thinking they were entitled to get a cheap or free ticket. One girl yelled at me " You are not a real Deadhead Man ! " I said " You are right ..I have a job and take showers you shank ! "
  I love The pig pen era the best 1966-72 ,especially the Europe 1972 tour or anything from the New York era in this period. Those shows are all strong ones.

I followed them from 1970 till the 90's when Jerry was a junkie and the shows were a riot waiting to happen. I scalped some shows in the Northeast and then read on their meessage board that they wouldn't be playing those sites because of it.One of the best shows I ever saw was in LasVegas@Silver Stadium but I was tripping in LasVegas so everything was out of the ordinary. That's true about tons of people loooking to get wasted,I went to a summer show at Saratoga Springs in early 80s and this was an upscale crowd but soo many people were hanging out that the parking lot was like a demolition derby when the crowd let out.I haven't paid much attention to the Further Tour and the world's best Dead cover band.

always loved the dead...many transitions but what chemistry ...it always ran thru jerry and lately been going back to his acoustic set at oregon state prison...its all there...the feel...the voice..passion heart and soul of the dead....

Too young to catch Jerry, but I'm a lifer.  First show I went to, showed up without a ticket.  Didn't even get out of my Jeep and some dude had 2 tickets for me.  Was perfect.  Being on the younger spectrum of dead heads, I have an appreciation for all of their work.  Europe in '72 does it for me.  Disc 2 in particular.  "China Cat Sunflower" will have a place in me forever.  I'm a sucker for Scarlet/Fire though.  St. Stephen rang a bell.  Found out 20 years later that that's the only song that would put me to sleep when I was a baby.  The old man realized I was a chip off the old block.  Just a fan who was too young to enjoy the real thing.  Still remember where I was when I heard Jerry died.  Kinda thing that stays with you.

I saw the dead 3 or 4 times... always at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin.  Honestly I really never liked their music too much, but I really did like "In the Dark" which came out in the mid 80's.

I went to dead shows to hang with my friends and party.  Many crazy stories and wild times.  Yes of course I was tripping... I did it several times back in the day.  One time I sat there in amazement watching the tripping fools... it was a rainy day and I was watching idiots tripping out of their minds as they were sliding down a muddy hill naked.  WTF lol

Another time I remember tripping out at night, in the parking lot.  These festivals were more about tailgating and partying.  So the RV next to our car was playing Willie Nelson all night, and I fell in love with Willie that night lol.  good times.

If you saw the 89 shows from there you might wanna pick up "Down Hill From Here" also on dvd i believe.Who knows you might like the music a little more the 2nd time around
