Check out "Hurt."  Same genre as Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd except they don't suck.

Also, new Sevendust album out in a couple weeks.  Dunno if you heard them before, but you either love them or hate them.  Lead singer is a black guy, so the vocals are more soulful than most.  I love this band. . .  sometimes crunchy heavy, sometimes very smooth and bluesy.  Check out "Angel's Son" and then "Crucified" to get a good feel for their range.

Monte .. here are a band

Sort Sol (danish band that doesnt exsist anymore) I love them, and listen to them once in a while. I find that the lead singer has a very haunting voice. If it catch your interest, i might be able to email you one of their cds. I got it all on mp3 :)

Also check out Stone Sour if you haven't before.  It's the lead singer of Slipknot's side band.  Good stuff.

Also try CKY, Clutch (have been around for years), and you might find a few songs you like in Ill Nino. . .

CKY is a band with Bam Margera's brother as the drummer.  It's funky sounding at times, if you watch Bam's show at all they do a lot of the background music.

Clutch is in a genre sort of their own. . .  I find a lot of people like them though when they hear them for the first time.  Sort of a southern rock tone, but they have a few other sounds too.

Ill Nino is heavy at times, but a lot of their stuff is HEAVILY influenced by a Latin sound.  Imagine some heavy stuff, then some rumba beats and a little bit of spanish. . .  Flows well IMO, but I could see where some wouldn't like them, but a lot of the ones that do like Sevendust as well so you may like it. They just put out a new album last week.  Their first album, "Revolution/Revolucion" was the heaviest, the rest are more mellow overall.

Also try CKY, Clutch (have been around for years), and you might find a few songs you like in Ill Nino. . .

CKY is a band with Bam Margera's brother as the drummer.  It's funky sounding at times, if you watch Bam's show at all they do a lot of the background music.

And knowing that you like Sevendust, might want to give Nonpoint a try if you haven't before. . . They also have a Latin singer, so he's really quick with a lot of his vocals.  I've seen them a million times, great band to go see. . .

One of my favorite songs from each of the bands mentioned

    Stone Sour - sillyworld
CKY - 96 quite bitter beings
    Clutch - Electric Worry
Ill Nino - This Time's for real

New Band called "ASHES DIVIDE". It's the guitarist from A Perfect Circle. Very TOOLish but a little more radio friendly. Album comes out April 8th.

Nice call on "The company band, I'll have to check that out.

Deftones are awesome.  One of my favorite concerts to attend.

I LOVE Tool, but couldn't get into the Puscifer stuff.  It sounded too much like background music for Halloween.

Clutch - if you like those harder bands, you might want to check out Silent Civilian, who is the ex lead singer from Spineshanks's new band. . . even though I think they are now having problems as well.

The Company Band is pretty good. Only an EP's worth(4 songs) available last I checked.

Deftones are one of my favorites. The only time I saw them I was pretty disappointed though. It was at Nassau Coliseum so that may have had something to do with it. Although White Zombie put on an excellent show there.

Tool is a top 3 band for me. By far the best concert I have ever seen. I definitely have to be in the mood for Puscifer, can't just throw it on.

That Silent Civilian is pretty good. The kid in the beginning of the video is pretty funny.

You need to get around to seeing the Deftones again. . .  I've seen them about 5 times now, and 3 were amazing, one bad, and one mediocre. It's because Chino is such a drunk, that sometimes he just doesn't have it, and it shows.  When they're on though, it's tough to beat the energy and they play pretty much fucking everything.  The last two albums have been a little drop-off though, I think White Pony was the peak unfortunately.  Hope I'm wrong.

Highly recommend them in a smaller club too, because I've seen them in open/large venues twice, and it didn't sound nearly as good as it did in a 1,000 person venue.

Has "The Company Band" released anything, or is it tentative for now?  If they have an EP or something, I'll go pick it up, as I'd trust them to make good stuff.

The radio station here were having a discussion on "most underrated bands" this morning and someone mentioned Clutch. . .  Couldn't help but agree.  Can't believe their stuff has been around this long and not taken off.

I definitely want to check out the Deftones again. Actually had tix to their last show here in NYC but couldn't make it. Totally agree that smaller venues are the way to go. White Pony is an amazing album and not just because Passenger with Maynard is one of my favorite songs ever. That whole album is great.

I got The Company Band's stuff from iTunes for like 4 bucks. You can listen to it on their myspace page or go to Clutch's website: pro-rock.com.

What's the radio station? It's crazy how Clutch is like music's best kept secret. I think because the won't do larger venues or tour with festivals like Ozzfest that they don't get the publicity they could or should.

I'll check it out on the website. . .

The station was 93.3 in Greenville, SC.  They don't play Clutch, but the radio show guys in the morning have well rounded tastes and don't typically adhere to the format. . . They still don't play much outside of the regular format, but they do talk a lot about other bands.

I just heard a song from them on the radio. . .  didn't write down or remember what it was called, but it was pretty good.  Reminds me a lot more of APC, but has it's own sound and spin as well.  I thought it was enough to make me want to go pick it up.

-Clutch, I heard "The Company Band" last night on Hard Attack/Sirius.  Song was "Company Man."  Pretty good.  Sounded a lot like Clutch of course, but it wasn't quite as "twangy" as Clutch can be sometimes.  Pretty solid overall.

If anyone hasn't heard the new Disturbed song yet, it's good stuff.  Sounds just like a lot of their old stuff, so at least they are being consistent, which is a lot more than most bands can say nowadays.  I was pretty pleased, I always get nervous that a band is going to put out some really shitty stuff when they get big fast and don't take a ton of time in between albums.
