     Forgive me if there's already been a thread on this topic, but I really haven't been keeping up with the latest on KISS.

Late 2008 saw the band take another unexpected turn. Over ten years after their last studio album, and following years of denials about ever wanting to do a new album, Stanley and Simmons seemed to have changed their minds. In November 2008, Paul Stanley stated to rock photographer Ross Halfin that a new Kiss album is in the works, which Stanley would produce. Stanley also stated that the album would have a "real 70's Kiss sound" to it.[92] He also confirmed that Kiss would tour North America and Europe in 2009.[93] On November 26 2008, Gene Simmons confirmed the information about a new KISS album and said he expected it to be released in Summer 2009. [94] On November 29, Paul Stanley confirmed to the official Kiss website that the band will be entering the studio soon,[95] repeating the assertion that the new record will be modelled on the band's classic 1970s sound. [91]

I loved Kiss in 1977, when I was 10 years old.  The fire, the blood, the smoke, the makeup, the costumes... it was a circus.  But now?  What's the point?  I listen to them now and laugh at how bad the music is.  Very smart business men though.  Gene is hilarious.

fuck kiss....the "live" album that made them is a total sham. The thing was pieced together....guitar riffs and vocals were redone in a studio....even messed with the crowd noise....music started changing in the 70's...they made disco music....they faded in the 80's...they took off their makeup.....they were done in the 90's so they put the makeup back on and just did tours.....then when that lost its hype gene simmons ruined everything and sold out worse than anything i have ever seen...he has whored out the name kiss as well as his family just to make money
 
wow that a good rant......the sad thing is that kiss has some good songs....but they made their fame for everything other than music and to me is stupid......

I've got some bad news for you Spreadmover...every single "LIVE" album ever was re-dubbed in a studio. If you want proof listen to soundboard mixes or even bootlegs of most any band in concert and you'll come a lot closer to the real "LIVE" sound.

It's fucking Gene Simmons fault all the way.  He's a TOTAL piece of shit.

Ace Frehley;s 1st solo is the only good thing about KISS. They remiund me of a washed up 80 s band. I see KISS fans running arounf my bar

really they let this american idol biguy sing their songs with them onstage with him throwing out insane high notes during their classics
 
 
 
i was never the biggest kiss fan but i did have a couple of their greatest hits cds.

Agree.  American Idol sucks, and KISS has reached an all-time low.  With Family Jewels, (which I saw for about 5 minutes) and this crap, I do not think Gene can stoop any lower.

     I was not happy when I saw that they were on American Idol.  I just knew it couldn't be good.  As far as Gene using his family to make money, I dont think that's accurate.  I think him and his family thought that it would be something fun to do.  And besides, Gene doesn't need anymore money.  He's worth enough now, so I just dont think money was a big motivator in that decision.
     The bottom line though is that they seemed like super heros to me as a kid, and although I dont listen to them alot now, I still think they made some pretty good music (and some real bad stuff too).  The Revenge album was spectacular, but then they got caught up in the reunion tour after that.  One product of that though was the Unplugged CD, and if you haven't heard much of that, I suggest you check it out.  That is some of the best stuff they've ever done.

havent looked at the thread in a while, to claim every live album was pieced together is a pretty big generalization, could be true i dont know, buttttt the point i want to make is that no one gave a fuck about kiss until this 'live' album was realeased....they denied it forever and then admitted it and tried defending it the same way you are...without this album, it is unlikely they would have had the same success, they relied on theatrics and juicing that album which to me takes away from their credibility as musicians, i woke up to the radio playing lick it up the other day and almost puked, one line repeated over and over, one riff you could teach an ape in a day over and over, a heartless solo....fuck, and the worst part of kiss is how shamelessly simmons has pimped out the brand, will slap kiss on anything to make a buck

I opened this thread and really wanted to tease the shit out of you for be serious about this happening.

Why is the song "houses of the Holy" not on the Album titled that?
