heard it on the radio a coupla days ago. i was not feeling it. They really miss michael anthony and I have been listening to Halen since the debut 8 track. i will NEVER forget where i was when i first heard it. They started sucking around the 1984 album. Tattoo does not redeem them, but anything is better than Van Hagar.

Why would they give up? Their last tour grossed over 100 million and so will the 2012 tour.That's some serious fucking money!! It's not like their playing casinos for 1000 people or so like most of their peers, there selling out arenas.

Mike didn't write shit, never did, barely even played on the Gary Cherone album, Ed did most of the bass lines. Check out the cafe wha link, Wolfgang is a chip off the ol Van Halen block. While I agree that the new single ain't so shit hot, the album will have some smoking tracks.

Since when has artistic integrity have anything to do with rock'n'roll? Rock music is about volume and attitude, nothing more. From Chuck Berry to the Stones to AC/DC to G'N"R. You must be a stuck up Coldplay fan or some shit. There is no such thing as good taste or bad taste, just your taste.

No, I'm definitely not a Coldplay fan but the fact that there even are Coldplay fans kind of kills your "no good taste or bad taste" argument. I think bands like that embody everything that's wrong with the music business these days. They're a perfect example of a group with no artistic integrity whatsoever. Nothing but a bunch of soulless plagiarizing whiners.
My tastes run towards punk/thrash/metal with some industrial thrown in. I'm far from a music snob and believe me, I understand volume and attitude. I used to love Van Halen. Still do love those first few albums. But really ... they should have called it quits long ago. You mentioned the Stones ... they haven't released a decent song in over 25 years and they're nothing but a nostalgia act at this point. Is that what you want for Van Halen? Enough's enough already. They need to call it quits before they tarnish their legacy even further. Crap like "Tattoo" is indefensible.

Huge metal fan also, but at the end the day those bands are called "classic" for a reason and there's a huge demand for them to play there hits live. Go to the show when they hit your town, they still can kill it live. Besides who else tours these days that are worth seeing. I'm pushing 40 and damn seen every killer hard rock/ metal band a few times over. Slayer, Metallica, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Tool, Pantera, AC/DC, you name it. The newer metal acts don't do much for me, they all sound the same and have a faceless front man. Who puts out good albums anymore anyways? Pretty much nobody which is why the music biz is in the shitter.

Iron Maiden is still putting out good albums and they have not lost anything live.

It's hard to argue with any of that. I suppose subpar new material from classic bands is the price we pay for the chance to still see those bands live. It still hurts though ... it's like watching Muhammad Ali at the end of his career.
