Hey DH, my thread is just as valid, if not more so than most of the "Best this.. and Best that..." threads. The entire thought of someone being the best is subjective. Plain and simple. Just because more people say someone is the best does not mean that person is the best. Perhaps they may be the best to them, but to someone else, they may not rank up there in their top ten favorites.
Who is the best artist of all time? Picasso? Dali? Monet? How can you prove this?
Who is the best poet? T.S. Elliot? Walden? Maya Angelou? Who? How can you prove this?
Who is the best guitarist? You have to be downright deranged to think there isn't another performer out there who is yet to be noticed who can blow the doors off of Page. I can't prove this, but you can't prove me wrong, either. You've proven nothing except for making yourself look like a self-righteous, close-minded, boob.
The most remarkable aspect of any art to me is the amount of interpretability of it. I know, I made up a word, who cares? Just because I'd rather listen to Jeff Buckley's "Grace" more than Led Zepplin 2 doesn't mean anything other than that I'd rather listen "Grace" rather than Led Zepplin 2. I like it more, it means more to me than most other albums. It's my opinion. That's all it is. O-P-I-N-I-O-N. Each of us has one and usually they differ from one another. This is a good thing in case you've forgotten.
So, DH, you can take that high horse you've obviously been riding for far too long and keep on riding it. Ride that thing far away. There's no turning back for you. You're hopeless. You're obviously far too big-headed to even fathom someone else in the world could be right about something to which you so vehemently oppose.
As for useless threads, I counted a cool twelve posts on the front "Music" page which can be attributed to you. How many of those were so worthy as to even deem visitable? Some? All? Were they all great? Did some suck? Which one was the best? The answer to all these questions is, Who knows? And you know what the answer to who's the best guitarist is?
