on that statement. Here's a little insight my "insider" gave me.

By the way, my insider is my girlfriends Dad. He raced Sprint Cars for a living for 25 years. He knows most of the drivers and crew chiefs on a first name basis, and has raced against some of them. Here's what he told me about the older drivers:

When drivers get past a certain age, they don't lose ability, or vision, or instinct. They lose the killer instinct. Instead of fighting for a top 5, they settle for top 10. Five years later they don't fight for a top 10, they settle for top 15, etc. He said that is what is happening to Labonte, and its started to creep in for Mark Martin (the guy is in great shape, but like he said...you can't be a killer forever). Guys get grandkids, more perspective on life, etc...and all of a sudden motivation goes away.

His best guess is that Labonte has top 15 talent, but not top 35 motivation, and his team knows it. The 51 is a temporary solution and he gets a paycheck.

I don't want to scare you away from a wager you feel great about, but that's his point of view. He's not right all the time, but he's right a lot more than he is wrong. I'm most likely going to be on Mears, but GL either way Catdaddy.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents...

I don't about that bro...I really think they lose the ability to compete for a full season week in and week out. Why are the settling? Because they can't compete week in and week out. They don't have the ability to fight anymore so they settle.. I'm only 42 but in the past couple years I definitely can tell my motor skills have diminished just a little. I'm not a race car driver by any stretch but just in everyday sporting activities I can certainly tell...Fishing, Hunting, Golf etc... and I work out 3 days a week and am in great shape. I really think as NASCAR has gotten closer and closer to making all the cars nearly identical it has become a young mans sport. I think the Labontes, Martins and Burtons are all washed up as far as contending for championships. Just my 2 pennies worth.

I guess labonte was trying too hard, I never expected to lose that play by labonte wrecking himself. Oh well im done with my my labonte expierment for now lol.

Kind of a weird and boring race, watched very little of the race and after i switched over and seen khane had wrecked out, i never watched another minute of it.

I just watched or skimmed through last years race and the racing here sucks, after the repave, its not even the same track really. Stop repaving tracks nascar.
