Gentlemen, I would be surprised if anyone still remembers your boy Mak. It's been a year and a half since I last spoke to my covers brothers, my sincere apologies for the absence. Many of you knew I was trying to concentrate on business but this year I just cannot and will not stay away, that is my promise, I am here all season, all throughout the playoffs.
Those who do know me, know what you are in for with me this season, those who do not know me, I live, breathe and love this game. I don't watch the NHL, MLB or even the NFL. All I know is the NBA, and I know it well. I fell in love with this game over 2 decades ago when I saw a man by the name of Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwan, I saw that dream shake and I was hooked. Watched the Rockets double clutch and win back to back championships as a kid and haven't missed a season since.
I am here primarily for those who cap their own games and are knowledgeable to some extent, the cappers who are just looking for a different perspective on their own thoughts about a game. That does not mean I am not here for the casual gambler, I understand the love to make money, trust me I understand it thoroughly. I just caution the casual tail gambler this season. The first round of the playoffs last year is a clear indication that the collective bargaining agreement has allowed for an extensively more competitive league, any given team can beat any team on any given night. This is going to be a tough season and I implore you all to use sound money management.
Today is the real opening night, my favorite night of the year. I really believe that it is better to study the first week of the NBA, especially this year. With numerous new head coaches, mass player movement and a stellar rookie draft class, it will take some time before I make my first wager, a week should suffice. I really need to see what rotations coaches will use, I prefer tight rotations but it may take some time for coaches to experiment with their new rosters. It's also just as important to ascertain team's defensive efficiency and offensive cohesiveness.
Once I watch each game this week I should have a clear idea of each team but this season will be a learning process throughout. I can't wait to get started guys. I wish you all the best of luck this season and am so glad to be back with my covers brothers. Peace out - - - MAK

Mak I gave you a shoutout in my thread from yesterday (https://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=22&sub=101980670) and let me just say how excited I am to see you posting. Seriously, this makes my day and probably my entire week to have another advanced basketball mind back in the saddle.
I can absolutely vouch for the basketball smarts of Mak. I've seen him post for years and have nothing but the utmost respect for his understanding of the game. He is the real deal fellas.

Good luck to you Mak, were you over on CBS for a while?
Hi appleton, no I was not. Did have an offer from a reputable site to do some article work for them on a daily basis for the NBA but had to decline due to business. It was very flattering to get an offer and nice of you to think I would be on CBS lol. Have a good year bud.

Nice!! Good to see you again rf. Honored to be your 36th post in 5 years, that is seriously cool.
How bout them Raps, my most underrated signing for them is Vasquez, overshadowed by Lowry and Salmons but him and Johnson really solidify the team this year in my opinion.

CM !!!!!!
I am so so glad you are still here man. I thought about you a lot last year when Punk was on the rise, I was like "Kapono saw this coming, no bandwagon for him"
Firstly please do not tell me anything about Punk or WWE, I have not had the time to watch with business being good so I have downloaded all Raw's and PPV's. I am on Wrestlemania last year so no spoilers please :)
Secondly, I really appreciate the shout out on your thread, love that I was first too :), I appreciate the vote of confidence and cannot wait for us to both help each other kill the books this year.
Lastly, I love your futures man, some of them are so so good. I really hate futures because it ties up money but after seeing some of those bets you had I just have to join you. Will post on your thread shortly and let you know which ones I love.
Can't wait to get started brother. Thanks for the post and the best of luck to you this season.

Mak -- No worries my friend, I will be spoiler-free for you.
The confidence is there because I've seen it year after year from you. Nothing but respect for your opinion, and I'm very excited to have you to bounce thoughts off of this year. I know how much you live and breathe the NBA like me, and hearing your thoughts will offer me another unique perspective to work with, especially knowing that you pay attention to the little details that a lot of others don't. I also know when you have an opinion on something, there will be a legitimate basketball reason behind it.
I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts about the futures and seeing what you like and what you don't.
Again, super happy for your return and I hope you do post regularly for the rest of the year. If that happens I will assume that business things are under control, and that has to be a good thing for you.
Good luck this year my friend
