As another NBA season comes to an end,

I checked my betting performance over the course of the whole NBA regular season and somehow I ended up losing money compared to the objective of making money. Early start of the season I was hitting 60-70% win rate, some days I hit 80-90% but over the course of time somehow my picks are not hitting that made my record sit and stagnant at somewhere 40%, I was losing money instead. I think even if your total bets sit somewhere 50-55% win rate you are losing money instead of making ones. I shifted and tried strategies from Bankroll Management (unit betting) to Arbitrage Betting and +EV betting (both require serious starting capital) and I am not even sure if for the long run is this still worth it or I should just treat this more as Futures Betting compared to treating this as day trading like the stock market. I have been doing sports betting for the past 13 years, I started using Covers.com since 2014 lurking around the forums, I tried following picks and sharing my own based on my own strategies and systems, there were some profitable years but I think most of the time I have been losing money. I am interested how any of you approach this expensive hobby of ours? lol I checked my FanDuel account and I lost over 7 grand past 4 weeks. Last year I made over 25k on my FanDuel account, that is an average of 2.2k per month or less than 100$ a day, considering the amount I am wagering everyday I am assessing if this is worth it or just waste of time. I still have to compute if the amount I made last year is higher in terms of percentage compared to a HYSA. The stock market is not very profitable for me right now as well because of the pissing contest of Trump and China so I would appreciate if yall share how you make profit overtime. 

MLB season is on its early days, I am on it but laying small amounts for now. NFL season will come soon, will it be a cash cow or will it be like a broken hose out of my backyard contributing so much expense instead of saving money. This NBA season is trash too, the point spread sometimes doesnt make sense even the point totals considering how one team shoots so much threes in a game. 

Gambling is 100 percent a "waste of time". A very small percentage actually make money. Think of all the time you've spent on capping, betting , and watching sports. I bet you could have some sort of PHD if you applied your time differently. But we're all lemons, Leon.

 I agree on the principle that it consumes time but it depends if its profitable then its worth it but it we are just losing money overtime then its total bullshit and indeed we are just wasting time. Hence we should make this hobby profitable, I noticed before when I was still winning - sportsbooks tend to set limits on my account but when I was losing they would just rake money as if they already know the outcome of the game.

 There are for sure. I have a buddy of mine who lost his marriage after losing almost 70grand on day trading. He almost considered committing suicide good thing he did therapy. Its a rough world we live in.

be the Clips ML and live with it, everyone will be on GS at home, go opposite and don't sweat it...btw gambling is pure entertainment, like going to the movies or Disneyland, consider that $ gone on the fun of being involved, anyone that thinks they can "make money" by betting nowadays is delusional and harming themselves and the people that care about them...keep the big picture in mind which is living a good life and helping others do the same along the way 

Last year hit 57% on 500+ posted NBA plays. Amazing. This year 50% down 60u compared to up 160u prior. Dogshit. Only been doing sports gambling consistently for 4 years. This year sucked (just for NBA) and still trying to find methods I’m comfortable with. I have a professional I know here in Vegas I tail some of his plays, a friend I use his computer system, and my selections have to check a certain amount of boxes. This year I tried to play contrarian more and it kicked my ass. I recently used a trial of the “moneyballer” and it opened up more data and handicapping tools I’ve never seen before and won more.  I’m going to focus more on using that software next season. Also, just like you said finding what works for me (TT unders, being patient on situational handicapping, and stop going against how teams are playing right now). Anyway, I love betting NBA and just trying to get better. If I lose consistently I’ll bet less money or abandon it. Also, my stocks are bleeding right now and WAS doing great. Long ramble but yes… show me some profitable knowledge!

Freedo the way I sometimes win is try to identify a situation and ladder it, meaning say for example when Julius Randle was going to earn a $1.4m bonus if Wolves made playoffs bet his PRA at -110/+110/+200/+500 etc...also if you like a dog bet them at +160/alt -3 +190/alt -6 +280 etc, if you like an under bet it under at -110/alt under +++..makes you really invest in a play and think about it before you pul the trigger just my .02

I’ve never seen a dog bettor hit so many big ML dogs. Ever. I guess if talking strategy how do you determine when the dog is at its hungriest lol. Some of those plays on Philly at it’s lowest was impressive as hell.

 Even the favorites are not so favored all through the season, well maybe if you did ML plays on them then yes but what juice can we get with ML plays. Arbitrage betting really caught my attention late of the season, risk free bets technically. But you wager a total of 200-300$ just to profit 20-40$ guaranteed. It works longterm but we are gamblers so we live for the thrill and the adrenaline. Probably I need more patience moving forward. 

Money can be made …. But everything has to be in moderation. Betting everyday can be tough unless you have a system.
