true story: when I played basketball the best coach I ever had implored us to NEVER look ahead in the schedule, that was his job not ours. We were one of the top JUCO teams in the country and it didn't matter if we were playing the worst, the coach would be completely livid if we ever put forth less than 100% effort

translation: who the Knicks play over the next few games has absolutely NOTHING to do with how they will perform today

scal, you are great entertainment but your capping skills have no basis in reality

the Knicks are a stone cold jump shooting team and Stoudamire and the players are playing for contracts

how in the world you think that JR Smith and Carmelo can play on the same team is just beyond me...two guys who like the same spots on the floor, think they are a lot better than they actually are, it's just not working

jump shooting teams just can't seem to score in the fourth quarter...that's why the knicks only average 22 4th qtr pts this season

another thing, if your bet loses OR WINS in the waning seconds of the game relying on a free throw to go down or not or whether the garbage 3 goes in or not, IT WAS NOT A GOOD BET REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU WON OR LOST!

and while I"m on the Knicks

Smith and Melo complete against each other for the highlight reel, if Melo makes an incredible shot, you can be sure Smith's next one will be to outdo him. Does not matter if it's within the flow of the offense. He's a poor man's Jamal Crawford except that Crawford actually has the moxie and passing skills to lead the second team. If Smith embraced his role as 6th man and led the second team like Crawford, the Knicks would be at least .500. You can't look at their roster and see a 4-19 team, the stats themselves don't account for it.

That and the fact that they are still learning a complex offense means you should be looking for a regression in their win%. They will be getting more and more points as they keep losing and at some point will be a strong bet. Too much talent to lose this much.

Just can't think of it as one bet at a time. If you are winning at NBA you are making something like a 6c return on every dollar spent. Another noob mistake you keep making.

But I digress

Wow no in between from the love of the covers brothas scal..Either love or hate you for some reason.  Anyways thanks for taking the time either way to post...... For those of you who dont like Scal picks it seems to me like you are trying to run him off or bad mouth him....Put your money where your mouth is and bet against his picks is all you have to do if you feel he is that bad.  I am guessing though that you have tried that and it cost you money.  You also probably played his picks for to much money and got burned.  TANSTAAFL...There aint no such thing as a free lunch economics 101...  I give Scal and anyone that posts credit for putting themselves out there to be ridiculed chastised and belittled if they lose.  Let those that have never lost a bet or picked the wrong side though be the only ones to cast the first stones....If he sucks so bad play the Pelicans....If he makes sense to you play the Knicks....IT IS YOUR DECISION AND YOUR MONEY so dont get mad when he loses which everyone will..Play the other way if you want but if you run Scal off you will have to make a pick on your own and be accountable to yourself...With nobody to blame but yourself     Nuff said    BOL to you all.....No play for me...NBA is so unpredictable of who wants to play each night...............College baskets they all show up every night

I for one like the posts Scal been reading for a long time now. Just a note since the beginning of November dogs are 25 -8 ats in the first half on Tuesday nights... ( might be off by a game ) if you like the Knicks I'd be playing the +3.5 first half as well.

And team total second half unders, and hedging out at half with more than 2 bucket spread

didn't take the knicks, took the KNICKS TTu.

It was a sweat because NY came out hitting 3s but NO blocked that up in the second half. They actually got lucky to get to 93. I flipped out when JR Smith actually hit the buzzer beater in the 3Q.

Here is a tip:

Start fading the NYK team totals, especially on a road trip. They just want to shoot jumpers because they don't understand the offense and are too old to change. The Knicks have a 14-9 record against their team totals but this will definitely regress to normal. Check the schedule and play to take lots of Knick team total unders when it's 94 and above on the road as it was last night.

I disagree with the talent to be .500 notion.  This team could be firing on all cylinders and they would still be under .500.  That frontcourt may be the worst in the league.

Knicks team total set at 91 at San Antonio. I'm seriously expecting no more than 88 from the knicks but sheesh, 91 is TOO DAMN LOW! You could sweat that all game!

Taking a break

This time I'll try to do it for an extended period.

Knicks go 3-0 ATS against two great teams than fail to cover against the Pelicans when I'm on them. I knew 7 would be just outside the range needed.

Bankroll is perfectly fine (the teaser for this game actually hit) but posted picks straight up are trash right now.

My shi* teams that I like to back are now (Knicks lakers jets giants, sometimes nets) are beyond shi**y and can't be trusted. Bad is OK. Completely incompetent (lakers Knicks jets) means no spread is enough. This has burned me badly here.

Maybe I'll post a bowl game. NBA just isn't working. That is very discouraging. This is my bread and butter.

BeginnerBoy, 11 pts for the Niners this week. Give me something to go with on this game! (Or if anyone else has an opinion).
