You've prompted me to do some investigating here.  I stumbled upong something sorta interesting.  It might be nothing, but the numbers are pretty interesting...

I looked at teams that open as either a -3 or -3.5 favorite.  I decided to take a tally of what teams cover when..

A) The line goes down

B) The line goes up

C) The line remains the same

Whe the line goes down - When a favorite opens at -3 or -3.5 and the line goes down, the Underdog is 4-1 this season.

When the line goes up - When a favorite opens at -3 or -3.5 and the lines goes up, the favorite is 8-1 this year.

When the line reamins the same - When the line holds steady, the favorites are 4-2 this season.

I think that's pretty interesting.  Aside from when the line remains steady, you're looking at a solid 12-2 record when you like at the line going either up or down.

Milwaukee opened at -3 today and it's dropped to -2.5.  Keep an eye on it.

it dropped to 2 in some places and went back up

i like chicago regardless.. and this theory works best with 6 pt dogs

im just curious if it works as well in college hoops.. its been pretty solid the times ive tried (penn state tonight)

The Kings started out getting 3.5 and it is now at +4 at Detroit.  I like it!

i noticed last night The Kings +5.5 @ Knicks and Bulls +2 @ Indy....  The Bulls fell outside of the .5 margin but still pulled out a SU Win.  Both of which were road dogs. Just wondering does this theory apply to all dogs or road dogs ?  Very interesting either way. Thanks for the insight

Tonight Philly is +6 at Toronto. I like the theory but I don't know if Philly will cover that. Toronto has been playing well at home (winners of 7 in a row).  Last 2 games (NJ Nets and Sac Kings) both were double digit victories.  In the Sixers defense, they are on a 5-0 run and 7-3 over the last 10.  Toronto won by 2 in this yr's previous meeting in Philly.  this should be a close game for 3 and a half quarters.....  but I think Toronto pulls it out in the end. I would pass on this play but am interested to see how the 3,6,13 theory works out

just to let everybody know, this trend has been brought up at least once a year for the last 3 and everytime it goes south and gets dropped. i think there is something here, but just know it always has been around and always loses favor

 The line must open at 3,6,13. It doesn't apply to line moves. Just food for thought. But yes this rule has been being followed for years.
