Men bet for the same reason that men cheat. The need to feed their ego! I have only had 3 positive money years in the last 7.  I have a college degree, own my own business, and am over 40.  My point is that I should be smart enough to read the pattern that this is my worst investment. The truth is I don't care what logic says.  I set aside an amount I am willing to lose each year beginning with NFL game 1.  Some years I'm out by week 12 NFL.  This year, I'm still going.  I have had friends who know I gamble want to join in.  Most get down, chase, then quit. Chasing never ends well.  It's like committing a crime and getting away with it.  It makes you more confident to do it again.  

I hope you were kidding Glock. I hate to see anyone in a position like that.  Better to use a site IMO. Paying up front makes you feel the realness of the money. Using a bookie is like monopoly money, until it's over! GL

This is a perfect example of why you should not bet big on nba games in my opinion.  You are setting yourself up for heartbreak and financial ruin.

who cares what you told him?  he had obviously already bet $7000 on Phoenix....... you "telling him" was 100% pointless, EXCEPT to gloat and antagonize......

I love this post.  But, I think using a bookie should make you more conservative, you're actually handing cash over.

 

 

Anyways, I think the competitiveness is why I gamble.  I rarely even spend the money.

No.  Financial ruin is bred by betting through bookies and chasing losses.  I learned that lesson as an immature kid many years ago.  Now the kid needs to man up and pay his debt.
