BeginnerBoy reminded me of this game as I got caught up in another one in the NFL forums.
Lakers are an autoplay here.
Why? Short and sweet.
1. Byron Scott told his team to play the Suns like "the game was Game 7 in the playoffs."
A team that is terribly assembled did and covered by .5 pt against a Suns team that outclasses this Laker team from top to bottom.
Do you think Byron and/or the team has backed off that statement tonight against Charlotte? No way.
2. Lakers are 0-5 and this is their worst start since 0-7 in 1957. Although there is very little talent here, there is pride.
If they lost this game what is the next one to tie the 0-7 record? At Memphis. Not good. Snap this streak on your home court tonight.
3. Hornets could easily be 2-4 and quite unimpressive to start the season.
They should have lost to the Hawks in their previous game and are coming off an emotional double overtime thriller in which Lance banked in a game winning three from no man's land. Mini-letdown spot.
4. Lakers get 5 days rest for this one having last played 11/4 in a tight one.
If you can't beat what could be the 2-4 (but now 3-3) Hornets on 5 days rest at home, question whether you can beat anyone.
Hornets have talent obviously but remember, Lance is still just finding his way around this offense and disrupts it at times more than he does help it. That will change in due time but for now we take the Lakers and a nice little 3 pts to boot.
There is almost nothing positive about the Lakers I could point to except motivation. They have it tonight and we have to back them.
The Pick:
Lakers +3 over Hornets (3 stars)

it's all true. can't pull the trigger. the five day lay off is too long.
Not for a team that's 0-5 it's not. 5-0? Yes, it could get them off their hot streak. They won't come out flat tonight and will battle the whole way, if not really try to step on the gas early.
