I am the biggest NASH fan you will ever find. I am dam sorry he went to the Lakers. Miami had a ring waiting for him but he wanted to be close to his KIDS.

I am not saying that won't be in the playoffs.
I am stating they WONT win a RING.

winning a ring will depend on chemistry on that team....i dont know if they can do it in the first year....miami learned that....but you never know....should be a great match up to see lakers and heat.in the finals (barring any injuries of course)

This move puts the Lakers right up at the top as the favs to knock off the Heat for the title along with OKC. I can see the Lakers winning it all with this lineup. Kobe has plenty left in the tank. And working with Nash and Howard is only gonna keep him fresher for the playoffs. And they still have Pau who is still a very good player. I guarantee you Miami is not happy about this trade.

Nash might be on the decline but an upgrade over anyone else the Lakers had. Sessions, Blake? Right
Ron Ron is not the player he used to be but when he came on towards the end of last season he was very productive. I am not sure a knockout elbow shows up in the stat box but gotta give him a 10 on the delivery.
Not sure about Gasol being on the decline but it was a difficult season for the Spaniard as Bynum was demanding the ball down low and clogged up the lane for him.
Kobe is obviously the not the man he was before but the guy just put up 25+ ppg again and still performed at a high level.
Howard's back is shot? Well the guy is still young and should be able to recover to play a defensive player of the year level.
This team is much improved as they finally have a guard who can orchestrate the offense. Nash may be past his prime and old but he can still shoot and the Lakers definitely suffered there. Throw in Howard who is a significant upgrade and this team maybe have defensive mentality it has been missing for years. What everyone seems to forget is that the Lakers also picked up Jamison. The guy just put up great numbers while playing for a bad Cavs team but this is a great pickup for the bench. Resigned Hill, still have Barnes, not the best but definitely capable guys to provide a spark.

I tend to agree. Think the Lakers probably have 1-2 really good years but even then still not sold they beat on OKC.
Really what was the Lakers' issue? Stopping guards. Howard might block a few more shots but with Nash as your PG it's worse than before. Also think LA chemistry is going to be an issue. Kobe and Nash really have to win NOW and I'm still not sold Kobe is going to be cool letting Nash handle the ball most the time.

You are right, Lakers do have a problem of now stopping other teams point guards, but now the Lakers opponents will also have that same trouble, so that problem is now solved in a now balanced scenario. Opposing PGs that guarding Nash will have to work harder on D, thus affecting their offense somewhat. I agree that PGs opposing the Lakers always burned them, but that's partly due to the fact that those opposing guards were never put to the test on defense so they get to go hard on offense against Lakers on every possession pretty much because their defensive assignment didn't make them work hard on the other end. Nash will make Westbrook, Rondo, Paul, Williams, or any other PG have to work hard on defense.
What i just said pretty much kills any argument about Nash's lack of defense.

not sure about the lakers. But I do know that the Heat will not win another. Lets face it, they got lucky this year. Everything went their way. Lebron played above his head and made some real lucky shots. He is over rated and a choker, two things that do not make a champion.

I'm a NYKnicks fan and I know they are not going anywhere for the next 3-4 years. Playoffs for NYKnicks? YES, of course. But finals? Nope.
Lakers upgraded? Yes, definitely but that only means that they can get pass OKC and SASpurs in the West. For Lakers to really compete, Kobe needs to defer more to his teammates during the season and then take over during the playoffs. But let's see how DHoward fits in with the team. He's a big headcase.
Miami is still the team to beat. Miami had a huge upgrade with RAllen and RLewis now. They are just 1 defending big man away from 100% guaranteed championship. No one can stop LJames and DWade other than MWP's elbows.

But there is no one in the East that can stopped them now. Boston upgraded their bench with old hags and lost RAllen. CHI is done. NYK is no where close and got older and older with KThomas, MCamby and JKidd. Brook Nets needed DHoward and now they are just a playoff team. Philly still needs good shooters even with Bynum. Hawks got a huge downgrade. Orlando is dead. Indy needs a Superstar. Cleveland needs LJames back.
The thing is that LJames tasted the champagne, got the MVP, and will receive his ring. He loves it and now he's dying for more. That makes him very dangerous. The team is going into their 3rd year. So they know each other really well now.
FYI, i hate the Heat a lot (especially during the Alonzo, THardaway) days. I will never like them but facts are facts.
