NEW JERSEY +6.5 ( 3 units ) Nice little spot for the Nets to break out of their 6 game skid. Williams and Humphries will be back for tonight's game. Nets are last in the league in FG % so that number can only go up. Raptors playing some good defense. Dwane Casey has done a good job making the best of what he's got. I just think that the Raptors might start to get a little over confident. Consistently laying points is not a familiar role for Toronto. They covered as a 5 point on Chalk on Wednseday winning by 15 points against the Cavs in a score that was a little misleading. They are laying -6.5 today so my bet will be on the NETS.

I think 44 we both agree that Toronto is the better team here. I'm on the Nets just because I don't think Toronto has that killer instinct. They were barely better than Cleveland for the majority of the game will shooting 50% and allowing the cavs to only shoot 30%. Realistically they should have been winning by 20 in the 3rd q!!!
I think they win this game, but give me the late push by the Nets for the back door. NJN are in some serious trouble. Deron Williams barely looks like a franchise player. Maybe he is dogging it, maybe he is sulking that his team has very little talent around him. If you look at the Raptors, they have some offense off the bench, they have 2 guys capable of 20 points, they have a PG, they have strong inside guys like Ed Davis and Amir Johnson. The only true weakness on the Raps is SF, and looks like they might be getting Kleiza back. This team's issues were always at the defensive end. Looks like they are playing with more intensity at the defensive end, something that was talked about under Triano, but I never really got the sense that they really tried to make the team a defensive team. I think everyone was resolved to the fact that they needed to outscore the opponent. Well fuck, 6 games in, and now you know that no team wins without good defense, but teams can win with mediocre offenses.
Every team that has one a championship has been a top notch defensive team. Jordon's Bulls were notorious for winning 90-80, same with the Celtics. Lakers barely ever gave up more than 100, same with Dallas. Lets not mention Detriot or San Antonio. These teams all seem to have two things in common, strong D and efficient O. The Raps shoot 45%+ every game. They are playing like a good team right now. They look like a tough team to beat, while the Nets look like weaklings.

This is the same Raptor team of last year. This team was hard pressed to put B2B wins together last season let alone cover to medium size spreads. So what has changed ??? I just think they are playing above their heads and this is a play against the Craptors more than anything else. This game would of probably been a pickem 2 weeks ago.

It's not the same team though. Defensively it's night and day. Bargnani is playing like a beast. Yes he has gone through stretches where he is a beast, but never has he been consistently as good defensively.
Come on now, I know you are a Rap fan. This team might be a whole lot better than people realize. I still don't think they have that killer instinct, and I am expecting a back door by the Nets.
