It is possible that he goes to NY but a guy who is so endorsement hungry would be committing PR suicide by taking an hour to tell his hometown team he is leaving. The Cavs by the way have done everything he has asked including building a state of the art practice facility within 20 minutes of his new mansion so he doesn't have to drive all the way to Cleveland.
Sure he gets NY endorsements but nationally he will be viewed as an a-hole. If this TV announcement doesn't have him viewed as one already.
He likes D' Antoni but knows the value of defense in winning a title. The NY system doesn't fit his belief.

I mean, he doesn't necessarily needs to win a championship THIS year to whatever team he chooses.
