Spurs are just peaking at the right time.....combined with Ibaka out means this could be a sweep.....this kills our futures bet with OKC.....though made a hedge with the Spurs......but man LC...if Ibaka was healthy....think we had a great shot at the championship......GL the rest of the way....

LC's blind love for OKC and secretly hates the SAS. Biased handicapping, you're losing it bro. I agree with one of the posts here, never had I seen LC pick SAS in this playoffs when clearly, they have been the best team for quite sometime now.

He is situational angle capper and very good at it too. But it just doesn t have many situational spot in playoffs. 
But it just hard not to bet and just enjoy games . Damn gambling

Based on the first two games, Ibaka's presence wouldn't have made a difference.

Don't forget Kevin Martin who just walked away for nothing (who was compensation for Harden).

Who did the Thunder think would fill his void at the time? Jeremy Lamb.

So essentially they traded Harden for one year of Martin, Lamb, and Steven Adams (drafted).

That folks, is not enough.

And when Ibaka goes down, the emperor has no clothes.

If also add that Tim Duncan cut his salary IN HALF to stay with the Spurs.

Harden turned down approximately $60 million to get the $80+ Houston gave him.

If Harden stays? The Thunder probably win this series.

If Duncan leaves? Who knows if the Spurs could even make it this far.

But Duncan is a true superstar loyal to his franchise and Harden did what anyone in business would do: maximize his value.

And here we are: 0-2 OKC.

Lots of backstory to why these teams are where they are beyond the court of play.

Scal, I still say coaching is the biggest factor here. Pops team is playing basketball at the highest level and the Thunder are playing the game as one might play it at the playground. Switch coaches for a year or two and you would see a different result. KD and Westbrook are the best one, two punch in the game. No way this should be happening to them.

Agreed. Yes OKC is at a big loss with Ibaka. But when you have TWO top 5 players in the league at their respective positions, you should NEVER get raped like this in back to back games. Jordan and Pippen didn't have a supporting cast that you could say was SIGNIFICANTLY better than OKC's. Though anyways even if they did, they still WON TITLES. OKC is far from ever winning a title as long as Scott Brooks is coaching them. He is an idiot

Even the Cavs, with only LBJ and Mike Brown coaching, did much better against the Spurs than this putrid Thunder team:

By "better" I simply mean more competitive (through 2 games at least) losing by 9 and 11 instead of 17 and 35. Things could change, but I doubt it.

Of course, but you don't cap this series primarily on coaching alone or any other factor alone to come to an eventual capped winner.

The 'larger scope' cap brings the historical implications of what team can become a champion (again) and which one can't which is why I outlined the signings/trades which is part of an indivual cap when 'looking over very nook and cranny.'

You provided a 'larger scope' cap as well when referencing Caron Butler starting for OKC in a thread earlier this month. That was a relevant point. 

Also, you mentioned how Game 3 will be more important to SA than usual because of the OKC 0-2 comeback in 2012. That is a very relevant point for the cap of Game 3 and can't be tossed aside, even beyond the dominance shown in the first two games.

An exhaustive cap brings all these elements into play and when one is overlooked for the sake of an individual game, it could prove costly.

Agreed, Thunder look lost without Ibaka but they shouldn't look this lost. The Spurs are playing well but there not the best team in history like people are saying. Let's not forget Dallas went into San Antonio and beat them by 20 on the road just 3 weeks ago. Scott Brooks has been an absolute fail.

The point is, sometimes you have to take a step back and analyze a game based on history and other relevant factors than what is happening at that very moment in that series. Scott Brooks has always been pretty bad but OKC wasn't a fade against this spurs team even once in the regular season with these coaches.

The fact that that series went 7 and Dallas did beat them by 20 is a VERY GOOD thing for the Spurs. Like the Pacers and their missteps in these playoffs (much bigger and possibly much more calamitous) they are now 'battle-tested' (as cliche as that has become it is no less true).

It is precisely the reason why Pop wasn't too fond of that 19 game win streak and OKC blew them out to end it, perhaps inflating their confidence a bit more for this series (save the Ibaka fallout), and allowing the spurs to go full bore against them having lost 4 of 4 to them in the regular season.

I agree with most of what you say here, Scal. I tried telling people that SA's loss to OKC a couple of years ago (and their 4 losses during the season) would give the Spurs a huge edge going into game 1. And that series a couple of years ago will have huge implications for game 3 and 4. In other words, SA will not be relaxing. If anything, they may even up their play, if that is possible. OKC is in a world of trouble. In fact, I'm trying to find a prop bet that has the series ending in 5 games or under. 

The one thing I do disagree with you about is Brooks inability to make any type of meaningful adjustment. These guys should not be getting blown out. Playoffs are different from the regular season. Perhaps Pop did not reveal his hand then, but now that he has Brooks has to adjust/counter. This is simply inexcusable.

Ibaka will play, many inside sources are saying they wouldn't make him questionable if he wasn't probable. Don't think he'll be his normal self though

Short of pulling a Willis Reed, I'm tempted to say that more often than not, when a player like Ibaka suddenly returns from injury (in the middle of a series) it hurts the team more than it helps. Of course, this all depends on where he is at with his injury. But psychologically speaking, it often gives the team that needs the injured player's services a false sense of confidence. Additionally, the injured players return kind of throws everything off. Just as everyone was getting used to the idea of playing without him (and trying to get it done without him) he comes back and now players who were expected to do more in his absence (in their new roles) begin to relax a bit, thinking the injured player will now provide what was missing before. Of course, the injured player is usually not a 100% and can't deliver, which only adds to the team's problems. Anyway, I don't have any data (other than what I recall) to back this up but it would be an interesting scenario/situation to look into/research.
