Great discussion so far, let me play devil's advocate here. Reasons why Lakers will win this series: 1. They have the 2 best players on the court (by a significant margin). How many times has a team in the finals, with clearly the 2 best players, lost the series? - 2004 Lakers (kobe/shaq) but they had internal turmoil i would argue (this is the only one in the last 20 years that for sure makes the list) - 2011 Heat (although you can make an argument, Dirk was 2nd after Lebron)...regardless, current Miami has no one at Dirk's level so not sure this qualifies either - 2014 Heat (i would not count this, wade was nowhere near his normal level, knees were shot by this point) 2. Lebron will target the following players. Robinson, Herro, Dragic... there is no where to hide, if miami switches they are toast 3. Denver tried Zone D against Lakers and it did not work. When you have lebron play making and directing the offence, AD in the middle (shooting goat level from mid-range thus far) it won't work 4. Lakers can play 2 bigs, and miami cannot force them off the floor (Howard/AD). Howard did a decent job on Jokic at times, which allows AD to roam and rest, and miami has no one to make Howard and AD not be on at the same time (iggy, crowder can't create, butler can't hit threes). On the defensive side, who will keep AD and howard off the glass? You have Bam... that's it... who can miami counter with? Kelly Olynyk? 5. Lakers will dominate the boards 6. Lakers players have more finals experience (lebron, rondo, danny).. even though danny is awful right now. 7. Lakers will likely get a favourable whistle (Lebron/AD) - star treatment Miami will have to pack the paint, and hope lakers miss outside shots. I also think lakers will be the best defence miami will have seen this playoffs. Prediction: Lakers win in 6. Although i would not be shocked if it ends in 5.
all great points..i dont think that anyone would argue that lakers are anything but firm favourites as the factor of having the 2 "biggest dogs" on the court at all times is historically critical and almost always series determining...but maybe, just maybe davis is a little limited on his ankle or suffers another ailment which he is prone to do so often and/or lebron is just a notch below the monstrous dominance of 2015-2018 finals levels and things can even up pretty quickly if heat guys can all rise and do things by committee.if the series looks like it is going deep things may start to go sideways a bit for the lakers.they do seem very cohesive and together for the most part but they have yet to encounter any true and present danger/adversity this whole season and things can splinter when you least expect them to under duress/pressure.....but you are right in seeing advantages for the lakers of course.theres a reason the books have them strong faves.

The thing Miami has going for them is Jimmy does not have to guard 3 guys at once this time. Against Milwaukee he had to focus on Middleton, Bledsoe and help with Giannis. Against Boston he had to focus on Brown, Tatum and help with Kemba. Against LA, he just needs to focus on Lebron. Lebron might be better than Tatum and Giannis, but the Lakes #3 and #4 are no where near the #3 and #4 of the Bucks/Celtics. Lakers #3 - Danny Green Lakers #4 - Rondo Bucks #3 - Bledsoe Bucks #4 - Lopez Celtics #3 - Brown Celtics #4 - Hayward Heat #3 - Dragic Heat #4 - Herro Lakers have the worst 3+4 of those teams. And the finals come down to not the best 2 players, but the guys after that are what makes a championship team. We saw it with Toronto last year and I hope we see it again in that the depth wins.
hehehe...lets be honest here, the only reason we saw it with toronto last year was because warriors were HORRIBLY depleted.there is barely a snowballs chance in hell that toronto would have even taken a game if warriors played the whole series with durant, klay, iguodola and cousins all healthy/available..role players are important of course, but ONLY when the main stars "cancel each other out" so to speak.look throughout nba finals history,it is almost invariably the star driven team with the best marquee player/s that is triumphant.can butler/bam match AD and lebron?well not likely cos thats just not the way miami goes about things.they are more of a unit than a star driven squad built around one or 2 guys putting up the bulk of the numbers.....but hey, upsets do happen.only an idiot would count the heat out and they look like good value to take the series to 6 at least in my humble opinion.

LOL...U guys all seen Lebrick choke in the finals before with the so called better team...Mavs...Spurs....and even the title heat won vs the spurs...Lebrick was horrible in that 4th quarter of game 6...and got bailed out by Ray Allen...
so called better teams??the fcuk you talking about?if anyone told you he had the better team in all his finals appearances you were hoodwinked/mislead/bamboozled/conned....lebrons team at series opening has only been the bookies favourites ONCE in all his finals appearances.thats ONCE out of 9 trips....on this ocassion he should be expected to win as he genuinely is seen as having the far superior team.......you losers are hilarious, you never actually think critically or formulate your own thoughts.you just repeat horrible, corny played out cliches to fit in with the "cool kids"...LEBUM,HAHAHA..LEFRAUD,HAHA...LECHOKE,HAHAHA...dopey,dopey stuff.
lebron is far,far from my favourite player to watch/follow but the facts and results dictate that you simply cannot deny that he has been absolutely mind-bogglingly dominant in every respect in almost every single finals series except for the dallas one where he clearly shiit the bed and it is reasonable to suggest that he was definitely mentally weak/frail in that instance.

miami would be crazy not to play a good portion of zone through this series...anyone would bet on the lakers missing outside shots as opposed to letting lebron/davis and the other bigs do damage close to the rim..packing the paint is a must surely..i can see guys like kuzma/kentavious/caruso getting nervous/timid if they are depended upon to make long range shots and green has shown nothing also.

This Heat team reminds me so much of that Dallas Mavs team that beat the Heat....A lot younger and taller. Dragic = Kidd Butler = Dirk Iggy = Marion Bam = Tyson Chandler...
taller than the lakers??uh,no...just no.they have numbers that represent heights you know.its something you can literally measure..they cant really be disputed.

dude, its so ironic how you criticise lebron fanboys when you are as deluded as they are in the other direction.just recognise FACTS without putting our own slant on everything to make it seem as if we are right and that everything fits our own conclusion, perhaps?yes he went to a loaded team in miami so thats ONE tick in the book next to your argument...now on the other hand he was drafted to a shiit organisation that could never, ever surround him with top tier talent good enough to go all the way.if you disagree with that then youre simply a liar, nothing more nothing less.so he stuck around in that hell-hole for 7 fuggin years and finally had enough so yeah,he decided to jump to a team with other stars so that he could get his ring...after that he went BACK to the trash team he had been with and they had only kyrie who couldnt win a damn thing by himself or with the others guys that were in cleveland..kevin love WAS NOT on the team when lebron returned and most wouldnt put love in the very top tier of superstars anyway..and then he went to ANOTHER trash team that hadnt made the fuqqin playoffs in 6 years and DIDNT have davis on the roster when lebron joined.
cue the bullshyte conspiracy stories about how lebron controls the league and KNEW he would get love and davis..
you can pretty much fabricate any damn thing you want when all youre doing is writing things that support your own pre-conceived conclusion and narrative, right??crazy, crazy stuff..so many imbeciles out here its frightening.
and im no lebron fan by any stretch..he is passive-aggressive and whiny and isnt a good player to watch aesthetically speaking and i will never put him ahead of jordan.but i do have eyes and a brain and wont just make up lies to support my own feelings and opinions.

This HEAT team is nothing at all like that team. DIRK = HOF. Heat don't have one. Butler going to choke on his coffee sales and you will see the Heat take leads and crumble and lose in 5 or 6 max.

Is this a fucken joke?? Pistons beat a Laker team that was full of turmoil and fighting amongst themselves for what reason? Simply because they had been together to long and it was time to break that shit up. LeBron and this team have been in sync with one another since the beginning of the bubble. Hence 4-1, 4-1, 4-1 LakeShow has the 2 best players on the court in this series. Thus another 4-1 Take that to the bank
Just follow the 4-1 pattern. It's that easy?
