Great job sticking with your gut and rolling with Chicago last night BB. You once tell me you never go on big runs, but at this point I think this qualifies!
Keep it going tonight.

holy crap, just saw that Conley is questionable after locking up Griz at -2.5
anyone else worried or is it no Conley no problem?
griz is now -3.
Look at bulls yesterday. butler being out last minute you assume heat was the play. butler being out is like conley being out. But remember they still have randolph, green, gasol, lee.
udrih not bad for backup . Im sure conely will play this game is important to them to win the division and get home court.
utah jazz point guard Exum is not good this kid cant score and he still needs alot of work. so if conley wasnt playing it wouldnt be to bad.
randolph or gasol being out then there would be a problem.

Gene, Dallas sucks. They might get lucky in the 1st round, but that's about it. No team with Richard Jefferson is going anywhere. And regular season does matter. Teams that turn it on and off are not reliable come playoff time. You need to be like a machine. You need to be consistent and know how to close. Dallas is showing us none of these traits.
Have to agree with you here. Dirk is getting old. When dallas takes him out cause he getting fatigue they start falling apart. Dallas was a different team last year. In the late stretch they played good like spurs right now. This season they are very inconsistent cause the chemistry is not there with rondo.
Ellis is pretty much their only scoring threat with parson

Exactly, if Conley is out the rest of team might pick it up and play harder, just like the Bulllls!
Bulls did a beautiful job stepping up on the road against the Heat without Butler and I expect the Grizz to do the same. Wall sat last night and the Wiz turned it up ten notches to slaughter the Sixers too (that line dropped to -4.5 Wiz btw!).
Here is the funny thing BB: Bulls and Raps are 'fighting' for the 3rd seed (but also have to worry the Wizards who can jump up there as well, longshot but possible).
Now that Sefalosha (and likely, Antic) are gone, the Hawks just became a "somewhat" attractive first round matchup (also have a minorly hobbled Milsap) and I put that in quotes because they are still ultra talented.
So if you get the 3 seed, you get the Cavs second round. 4/5 plays Hawks and if the Hawks get upset (unlikely but entertain me), if rose gets hot or lowry comes back you are looking at a potential ECF trip.
Could some Kidd-Nets-Heat manipulation come into play like last year for the Bulls or Raps? The Wiz mess this all up because the Raps still need to secure home court but it is something to keep in mind on say the last game of the season if 1 game can decide the 3/4 seed and all home courts are wrapped up in the 4/5.
It doesn't appear so given how the Bulls and Raps crushed their last two opponents to go after the 3 seed.
But these arrests changed the ballgame imo. Just food for thought.

Great stuff, Scal. Totally agree. And here is another one. Say the Spurs win tonight and the Grizz win the next two. Then the game against the Dubs becomes a big one. The Dubs can give the Spurs the 2nd seed by beating the Grizz, and avoid the Spurs in the 2nd round. At least that's what it looks like based on the standings. If Spurs get 3rd they also avoid the Dubs.

Connely off the injury report. According to rotoworld. Think you got yourself another nice early line on memphis BB.
Good work
They really, really need this game to have any hope of getting home court. Hopefully they win and then we can think about fading them against the Clippers.

When have they ever showed you that? lol. They are chameleon team. They didn't show you any of that crap last year iether, everyone expected a dallas burial by san antonio and they pushed them to 7. Dallas wins any type of game thats why they fly under the radar. We cna even go back to 2010.... everyone expected Dallas burial at the hands of Lebron and the Miami heat.... they get raped the first game and and 2nd game and then it was all downhill for Miami afterward. This is what Dallas does.... they win cluttered up shiitty games 89-85 or they throw up 135 in a shoot out.
Houston balled last year and got stomped out by another scrub team in Portland. People need to stop and consider how these teams have spefic playing styles and horrible in game tendencies. That shiit doen'st correct itself magically in the playoffs. Houston is nothing more than hi tempo jump chucking team. I've seen Harden got shut down and throw up bricks and this team gets raped. Same for Portland and Clippers. Everything looks nice in the regular season when teams are coming in with varying schedules, road trips, travel difficulties etc. All that shiit changes in the playoffs. If Dallas sucked they wouldn't be a couple of games back for the division and be 16 games above .500 in what is "suppose" a much stronger conference. garbage.... the whole feckin southeastern conference is in the playoffs right now. I love the fact they are getting overlooked. That team has post season experience it showed last year when they barely snuck into the playoffs.
Portland and houston are so feckin horrible that the upper elite teams just keep raping them every game. Portland literally has no answer for Memphis, same outcome every time. Clipper are another joke..... when they can get past 6 games in the 2nd round I might take them seriously. High flying dunks and fancy dribble is all nice a regular season game.... otherwise meaningless in the playoffs. Proof is in the pudding.... these teams have done shiit every year. Doc has to be one of the most overated feckin coaches ever..... its nice when you have Rondo, Ray Allen, PP34 and garnett on a insanely stacked all time in Boston. Now you have a bunch of chucks and who act like they've won 3 rings and going to the HOF. His results are not different than Vinny Delnegro's....
I've said it before... I'll take a team like Brooklyn who is percieved to be a garbage team by most people (like 90% of people on this dopey forum) and maybe (maybe*) Toronto/Wizards over Clipps houston portland in a 7 game series. Rosters, match ups and playing styles are built for the playoffs and they would be very competitive in the playoffs IMO.
Memphis, SAS, and GSW are for real. Dallas is a sleeper because they are unpredictable. Golden State though, might be in a for a little surprise in the playoffs but I believe Kerr knows their weaknesses and they have enough talent and an insanely stacked roster to adjust their half court sets and strategies. That playing style they have now will not cut it against San Antonio and Memphis in the playoffs IMO.
Gene, you have great insights but this Mavs team is not the 2010 or 2011 Celtics playing possum and then suddenly turning it on against terrible Eastern Conference teams in the playoffs. If these guys think they are playing possum, they are only fooling themselves. While you're at it, forget about Memphis too (in the playoffs). They will not beat the Spurs, Warriors or even the Clippers (imo). They will beat the Rockets, Blazers and Mavs.

Here are some interesting stats I found for this game:
"While Utah is 12-6 in their last 18 games, only 2 of those 12 wins came against a team with a winning record. The Jazz are also just 13-27 ATS in their last 40 following 2 or more consecutive wins."
Also, Utah has a revenge game against the Blazers on deck. We shall see.

Wow. I would REALLY look for the Dubs to get that game if that pans out by throwing the kitchen sink at the Grizz.
I'll be looking for a post from you on that game if it comes to fruition. NO WAY do the Dubs want the Spurs in round 2. That is deadly.

Anything Gene responds to you about the Mavs in the future, you should keep repeating the same two words, until it sinks in:
Richard Jefferson
Richard Jefferson
Richard Jefferson
(And Rondo when he's disinterested, which is most of the time, is worse).

The Grizz will OWN the shiit out of the clippers. Complete mismatch disaster. Historically they have owned them and it won't change. I can the Grizz buckling down and getting after the Warriors. The playoffs bring a whole different pace and physicality. The Grizz are built for that. I was very impressed with them and how hard they went after OKC.... they pushed OKC to 7 and the league had to "intervene" to suspend Z-bo for game 7. But anyway that wast last year. I like them better this year and they have really upgraded their roster. Basically Grizz bigs will own Clipps bigs.... same for Portland and houston. Loss of Montejunas for Houston is HUGE. He was their best BIG. (yes i said BEST). Guy can bring an inside offensive game. Dwight is bumbling lummox at this point. As for Atlanta, sefolosha and antic not playing doensn't bother me. At this point only Thabo is out. Antic is up in the air, he's healthy its up to the hawks to play him. Millsap is a key if he's just a little banged up and will be 100% for the playoffs the hawks are stacked with talent and fantastic system.... plus they play very good defense (underated) with an offense that no one can stop on most nights. I can see them doing damage even though a lot of people don't believe in them because they are clearly caught up in "its just Atlanta" hype.
The Spurs are a different beast. I think they play with a big giant chip on their shoulder every time they see the Grizz. After that 1 vs. 8 upset they'll never forget how they lost. Aside from that, they are looking like the team from last year maybe even better because Kawhi is playing at an even higher level.
Lebron in the east is a huge threat now. I didn't think before but with the addition of Mozgov everything changes. This is the first time in his career he's playing with a legit big 7 footer who's more than just a waste of space. Mozgov has been an absolute beast this year. On all of Lebron's other teams especially Miami he had to play the role of the "big". Add in Kyrie who's 6-7 years younger than D wade was in this same spot plus an equally talented roster as his 2011 Miami team its hard not to make a case for the Cavs going all the way. Will be interested...... think 3 teams out East are a serious..... Cavs, Bulls, Hawks.

"Mike Conley (right foot sprain) is being listed as questionable for Friday's game vs. the Jazz.
He's back on the injury report, and owners will need to check back for another update closer to tip-off. If he can't go, Beno Udrih would draw the start with Nick Calathes seeing extended minutes off the bench. Stay tuned."
I can live with that. At least it explains things.

Grizz "owing" the Clips is a thing of the past gene. They meet up in the playoffs, I'm going clips big for the series (and I'll book your action if you want some too).
