i know this is a game to game basis, but this game is for leverage.
CELTICS
nice! that is exactly my angle on this game...
here is a very little known trend that i spotted immediately during the Cs 2008 playoff run, and it defines who this team is...
during that run, the Celtics had homecourt advantage for every series... they did not trail in any series during their title run... not including game 1 (in which the series would be tied 0-0), the Celtics covered every single game in which they faced the possibility of trailing in the series, and WON every single game in which they faced the possibility of trailing in the series...
they only lost 1 home game, to the Pistons in game 2, to tie that series 1-1... this made game 2 a road game where they faced that possibility... i made Bos ML my biggest bet of the year to that point, and they won, to immediately swing homecourt advantage back in their favor...
this year, they started on the road against the Cavs, so it's a slightly different situation... really, they only needed to win 1 game in Cleveland... so it was game 2 that was the critical game they could not lose... and sure enough, Bos ML was a great bet...
here is the point... this game tonight is STILL one of those games... so you are looking at something like 8 consecutive SU wins and covers (several as dogs) in this exact situation for Boston...
bet against that at your own peril...

actually i stand corrected... Boston won all of those games SU... they did not cover all of them... failed to cover twice i believe...
however, you can also throw in game 6 against both Detroit and LA, in my opinion, because those were both teams that were a serious threat to win a game 7 in Boston... the other teams i believe they felt too comfortable against, so i don't consider it the same mentality...
we'll see if they are still the same Celtics or not tonight, i believe...
