Nash has the 'it' factor that guys like Hoiberg, Hornacek, Rambis  etc did not have. Plus Nash will be in a great situation in Brooklyn. The Nets if healthy are built to win immediately.

If the reports are true that Durant wanted Nash then how can that be racist ?

If Durant, the Nets best player wants Nash then his desire WILL  and SHOULD carry alot of weight with the Nets . A great black player wanting a white coach is in no way racist, or setting blacks back in the NBA. It be the opposite of racist.

If the reports are true then Steven A. will likely back-track and apologize for his statements.

Let me say this: I like Stephan A Smith a lot, I think he is entertainment. But, when you have the mic on TV, that does not mean you can run business for Brooklyn team. If you want to hire the (black) coach that you want, buy NBA team, be an owner. Otherwise, stay out.

It's being reported all over now this morning...I bet you 5u SAS will NEVER apologize for what he said.  Keyshawn was basically doubling down with SAS this morning...

I can't see how anyone is defending this hire.  The Nets are a team that is supposed to be contending for a championship and you hire someone who has never coached on any level.  Someone let me know the last Hall of Fame caliber player that did above average as a coach (I'll wait) and led their team to a championship series (maybe Larry Bird). Just saying a coach with no experience white or black and a team with a superstar player who may never be himself again just doesn't make sense.

This. It's not a great hire. He's inexperienced. Hasn't done anything to demonstrate he's ready to be an NBA head coach but it's not "white privilege" as Steven A put it. It's just a star player having a say in coach.
