MR. BATOR----- (as they say on the radio)....Long time listener, first time caller....
I had Uconn about 5 or 6 yrs back against Duke in the final 4....Chris Duhon made like a freshmen and drained an 80 foot 3 pointer that meant nothing as time expired....$500 bones down the drain...never thought anything so ridiculous would happen again....until tonight...and HOLY MOLY if it weren't in my favor for once....
Gamblers always say they never remember the wins....NOT ANY MORE

What a horrible betting story these poor people on the under have. Like you said, that wasnt even a . Had he dribbled it off his foot, maybe. This is more like the Loch Ness, because I saw it and still dont believe it....
Only thing I can compare it to is the NFL game (teams slip my mind) when the one team walked off the field to protest a call and the other team walked in for 2 points (which they wouldnt have done otherwise) and covered by 1 point....

You captured that well. Too bad ESPN is done with their 30 for 30 series. Number 31 would have been riveting.

The crowd wad told to cheer for no reason just as when TNT went to the replay so people watching on TV can hear the crowd as if the shot went in......

We're not stunned over the last second shot by Stevenson. We're stunned that a player handed the ball over to a guy in a suit while the game was still going on for no earthly reason, and that this bizarre exchange led to all of the over/under 192 money going in the opposite direction a few seconds later. If you can't see or admit that what happened at the end of this game was mind-blowing, then you're just trying too hard to hate.
Don't be hatin', UMF!

Chris Duhon's heave wasn't from 80 feet away. It was from about midcourt, and it happened in a high profile game, but still, once in a while a player makes a half court (or longer) shot to win a game or cover a spread (like Tyreke Evans did for the Kings over the Grizzlies just last week). And while that's crazy lucky or unlucky depending on which side you're on, it's still a common occurence compared to the ending in Dallas tonight. We will soon see some college or pro player flinging one in from 50+ feet to bury us or make us rich, but we will never again see a player during a live game turn and hand the ball to a guy in a suit for an unexplained, completely mystifying turnover, followed seconds later by a last second basket that mooses one side and delivers a shocking gift to the other.

No, I didn't call you an idiot. I asked if you were stupid or if you were just pretending to be stupid. Now which one is it?

Ah yes, you're referring of course to the fateful night of November 29, 1998, when Adam Vinatieri was hiked the football and gleefully walked into the endzone unchallenged for 2 points and a 25-21 Patriots win and cover as 3.5-point favorites. That night on Sportscenter, Kenny Mayne, while showing the play, bellowed out "Great moments in sports gambling history!" It was a crack-up.

Geezuz Christ, what is with you guys? If I sound like I'm complaining it is because I have something called empathy for my fellow gamblers. I've had my heart ripped out by meaningless end-of-game junk hundreds of times and I know all too well how much that shit HURTS. So when I see it happen to others, I feel that stab even if I didn't lose a dollar over it.

as we all know, the stories somewhat grow as the yrs pass....But I can't help think that I thought the heave was from further away from half court, and agian, it had no relevence with the outcome, with Uconn up 4 and time expired.....
The replay I see (which I assume is the same one everyone else saw) had Coach Carlisle go over the sideline, onto the court, and "TOUCH" Durant with his sport coat FIRST...we're talkin 8 inches here over the line, but definate contact.....then Durant gave him the ball???? Am I missing something??? It doesn't matter, but I don't think Durant just gave Carlisle the ball....I've been saucin it up, but tell me I'm wrong. Maybe I need to look harder, but I thought Carlisle created contact
