Just remembering when the Spurs had injuries with their whole team that year and they landed Timmy D with the 1st pick. Who then was teamed up with some really good players who had come back from injury to win the NBA championship!!
The Heat look like this team to me for the next season and I will more than likely put a small wager on them.
wade
rose
haslem
marion
and the others are ricky davis who can come off the bench with scoring abilities, get rid of Jwilliams and keep quinn, and go pick up a decent center who can play D, not a scorer. I dont know of all the free agents avaliable, but this team can def win out in the east.
any opinions welcome

So who is the point guard there? Dwayne Wade? Good luck with that. No defensive presence inside...which as we just witnessed is the most important thing.
Derrick Rose looks like a decent player, but I'm wondering what type of player he will be. He's not a Chris Paul type...maybe more of a faster Deron Williams...but he's going to have to change on the defensive end in order to have an impact on the team.

If they really want a shot at another championship they'll take Beasley and leave the point guard position to a second round pick or go with what they have. While Jason Williams is a little wild at times he can still do enough to run the PG position on a day to day basis

Here come the doubters
Best believe Miami Heat will be a threat in the 08-09 season, they may not necessarily take the title but they will go deep & have a solid chance.
I predicted many to forget what kind of a player Dwyane Wade is after his many injuries. He's no Kobe Bryant he elevates players around him then compliments the squads chemistry with individual heroics which meshes with his teams plays and in the end executing great team basketball - similar to what MJ did for the Bulls but hey no MJ comparisons right .
Granted the new look Squad will take some games to get in good sync with one another but Wade, Marion & Rose (hopefully that's who we'll get) will be force to be fucked with once the chemistry improves, then throw Haslem in the mix and a nice strong Center and we're set. Miami currently scouting europians and going through numerous prospects, hopefully we get the right players to build around the top 4.
Work on Rose's game, discipline and mold him, not to mention teach the kid how to make FT's and he can become a great PG not only for Miami but in the league - this dood is a superstar waiting to happen. If we get Beasely then that's cool too because we could make some nice deals with him.
Oh yeah get rid of Davis straight up, that cat is a joke
I may be premature in my predictions here considering we don't know their roster but it is looking good for Heat, they can only improve from from the 07-08 season especially with a healthy Wade who has got thumbs up for the olympics.
oh and i quote:
"Although nothing can be assumed in free agency, an associate said Boozer -- who has a residence here -- likes Dwyane Wade and would be very receptive to Heat interest in 2009, when he is expected to opt out of his Utah contract."
Wade, Marion, Rose, Boozer & Haslem - now that would be something to see.......anything can happen and i am very excited on the new look Heat squad this season.

first of all rose is a bull now so that means they are gona get beasly who plays the same position as marion but marion is a good tough defender and he can play another position like the 4 if he has to. but this team still lacks a point guard and toughness and size up front

I just think the heat will be a good team next year if they can stay off the injury list. Like I said, they dont need an inside scorer when they have wade, marion, and/or beasly/rose. They just need to find some good role players that can do the dirty work, like a matt harpring, or girechek, players that come off the bench and play hard.

How about a trade? You think there won't be some serious interest in picking up Beasley with that 2nd pick? How about packaging the 2nd pick in the draft with a young prospect such as Quinn or Wright or Cook for a quality point guard or center...then use a slightly lower pick on a big man or point guard.
What I would do is send the #2 pick to a slightly lower picking team (Pacers, Nets, Cavs) for a legitimate scorer and actively pursue a guy like Jermaine O'Neal or Elton Brand...who clearly want to play for a contender. The lure of Miami Beach and playing with D-Wade and Marion should be enough to get them.

Elton Brand has always wanted to play for the Heat. During his last contract, he signed with the Heat, but the CLippers matched.
However, from what I've heard, Elton is going to opt out, but resign a bigger contract for more money with the Clips. CLips are really making a push for Gilbert Arenas, and possibly trading up to get Mayo. Maggette is a goner, which is a good thing for the CLips. I'd love to see a lineup of:
Arenas
Mayo
Thornton
Kaman
Brand
Lock them up for 55 wins next season.
(p.s. I'm currently wearing my Clippers t-shirt, so I'm obviously dreaming).

Good luck with that one! By the way, who will be the point guard? Who will play defense? Mayo would be a nice hometown pick and all...but that team would be the equivalent of the Knicks...looks great on paper, but you get those guys together and it's a trainwreck.
Arenas needs to go somewhere he can jack up 40 shots a game. Some quick ideas would be the Kings, Bucks, or T-Wolves. Brand doesn't want to stay with the Clippers I'm sure, at this point in his career he knows if he re-signs with the Clips, he's there for life.

I think that is there plan, They really need to address point guard issue and will most likely do it via trade if they acquire Beasely. Heat need some outside shooters also so Beasely really won't fit into the team.
