    During the 2019 finals the Warriors lost all three games at home and it cost them the title. They know how important game one is, especially at home. This will also be thee first finals game in their new arena in SF, a Christening of sorts.They also know how dangerous these Celtics are on the road. Their rest advantage (as a jump shorting team) will diminish with each passing game, as the teams wear each other out.

    Game ones are often feel-out games. The Celtics have not seen this iteration of the Warriors team but the Warriors have seen the Celtics. The Celtics handed the Warriors a stinging defeat the last time they were in SF and just when the Warriors were getting healthy they knocked out Curry by rolling on his ankle. In hindsight, that may have been a blessing in disguise. Even though the Warriors went into a tailspin and were not able to gel until the playoffs, it gave Curry some much needed time off while guys like Poole and Thompson were able to drive the car and lead the team, which speeded up their progress (mentally and physically) and got both ready for the playoffs.

    The Celtics are great counterpunchers while the Warriors are often front runners. If the Celtics had lost game one to the Nets they’d be 0-3 in the playoffs in game ones this year.

    The Warriors play a unique brand of basketball that the Celtics don’t see often. After playing the iso-heavy nets, followed by a Bucks team led by a unique superstar that plays his own brand of basketball, followed by a Heats team with an anemic offense led by a 37 year old point guard and a 33 year old forward who loves the mid range game and inside game, the Celtics will now be confronted by a team that moves ball and bodies in a such a way that anyone on the floor can become a scoring threat at any given moment. This will take some adjusting to.

    The Warriors have multiple guys who have been to the Finals. This is the the first appearance for everyone on the Celtics.

    The scheduling spot. In addition to the lack of rest, when compared to the Warriors, the Celtics will have to battle emotional fatigue and the hangover from digging deep and coming back to win a series on the road after dropping game 6 at home and barely hanging on to win game 7 in dramatic fashion.

    The intangibles:

    4 victories to go and they become immortal Basketball gods of the highest order, when everyone had written them off and counted them out. When everyone said Durant won them those titles. When everyone said the first title was not earned because LBJ’s guys (Irving and Love) were hurt. When everyone made fun of their 73 win team for choking away a title. This one is for all the marbles. Now at age 34, 32, and 32 for Curry, Thompson and Green to win it all, their legacies will be secure and history will be rewritten. Now history will say it was Durant who rode on their coattails. It was Daymond’s suspension and Curry’s injury during the playoffs that cost them the title and not a choke at all. And the 2015-16 team would have won a title regardless of if Irving or Love played alongside LBJ. If you put yourselves in these guys shoes for one minute, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

    Although I believe this will be a hard fought series that probably goes 7, I like the Warriors in game one for the reasons outlined above. However, it goes without saying that nothing is guaranteed in life or sports betting, so tail at your own risk.

    I imagine they will ease him in. Kerr has had a long time to think about the Celtics and all the problems they pose for the Warriors, I expect him to have some ideas to throw at those problems, especially now that the Warriors are a seemingly deeper playoff team than they were a few weeks ago. peace_5

    Not a scam. You are going to take a trolls word over mine, go ahead. It’s a free country. You have a right to remain ignorant. The token relaunched and the guys behind it have put in countless hours of work. I’m not going to rehash everything I’ve said in other threads because it falls on deaf ears. The entire crypto world has tanked, in case you weren’t aware, so the price of the Token has taken a hit since it relaunched, but it is and has always been a legit project. Here is their website. As always, do your own research. peace_5

    I only went back to 2015 but teams that won on the road (Bos) then started next series again on the road laid an egg in every G1. So that points to Warrriors G1, maybe someone can run an SDQL. My observations are Warriors roster has 100 Finals playoff game experience, Boston's roster has zero. Warriors have home court and veteran coaching. Warriors have rest advantage. Warriors are looking great. So why only -140 for the series? Seems like it should be higher. That seems like a cheap price for a diehard Ws bettor to lay 280 to win 200, I can imagine a lot of $14,000 series bets to win $10k.

    This NBA and these playoffs are different. #1 seeds bounced, injuries galore, blowouts everywhere. Did the ATS even come into play when a fav won? It seems to me if you spend $2billion on an arena (Bucks, Ws) the League gets you a Championship soon thereafter. The Warriors and Celtics have yet to lose 2 in a row, I feel that streak ends. Refs are a must factor.

    Should be entertaining for sure. Haven't committed my loot just yet.

    There is a lot of East Coast money on the Celtics. That’s why this series is priced where it’s at. Not to mention the Celtics are a historically good team, even if they don’t have Finals experience. Five and thirty eight says they should be favored as they have an 83% chance of winning the series. The books will gladly take the vig here and are not trying to fool anyone. The series will be epic, imo. Pick and choose your spots carefully. peace_5

    BB, I agree Warriors game 1. Celtics are going to crash the boards hard with Timelord and Big Al.

    Can the W’s keep the Celtics off the glass? That might be their downfall.

    From the Athletic:

    “Two players are tied for the most offensive rebounds in the playoffs: Wiggins and Looney. Both have 42 in 16 games. That combo has the Warriors averaging 14.5 second-chance points per game, an underrated force in what’s been a strong offensive month.

    The Celtics are long and active defensively, but they’re an average rebounding team. Their defensive rebounding rate (grabbing 72.5 percent of opponent misses) ranked 16th in the regular season. It’s been slightly worse — 71.2 percent — in the playoffs.

    Again, the Warriors can’t rely on generating great looks consistently against Boston in the half court, so they must find various ways to pile up points. That means Looney and Wiggins must hit the glass as aggressively as they have been. In the road win in Boston, Looney had five offensive rebounds, and Wiggins had three.”

    @StraightWagers

     There is a huge, rabid Celtic fanbase in New England with access to sports wagering both legal and illegal. Oddsmakers must factor in home steam when setting a line. All things considered, I think -140 is right where it should be.

    @begginerboy

    You aren’t taking into account how easy of a road the Dubs had, thus making these numbers a bit skewed and not necessarily accurate.

    Everyone has a plan, until they get hit in the mouth.

    I don’t think you understood the argument. I am backing the Warriors in this spot precisely because of the tough road Boston has had, not because I’m overlooking it. Nothing is guaranteed. That’s just my take. peace_5

    The Warriors are well rested playing a Celtics team that just finished a game 7 series( 2 straight  game 7s for that matter) .. Also the Warriors are historically great in game 1 under Steve Kerr going 21-2 Straight Up.. The Warriors generally start strong .peace_5

    I would be concerned if I was  Warriors fan,Bettor if they lost game 1..( Not saying the Warriors would be doomed if they dropped game 1 but its a good spot for them..peace_5

    i remember back in the old days, when the lakers were a good team. 1 of their numerous finals appearances started with them getting a week off, just like the Dubs. That Laker team was supposed to roll in game 1 but instead of rolling they were flat in the first half & lost the game. i believe it was the 2004 lakers vs pistons. Lakers were like -10 & got slaughtered.

    so when i saw the line was 3.5 & not 8.5...celtics. a team with 8 finals appearances vs a team with no finals experience?

    hello that says it all. Vegas isnt giving out gimmees to warriors bettors.

    you will get game 2.

    Teams that are coming off a road game and now start a new playoff series on the road again are (drum roll)

    19-34 SU
    25-27-1 ATS
    27-26 to the over.

    Dates back to 2003.

    They are 0-3 SU and ATS so far in this season with Mavs laying an egg in their series against the Suns and also Warriors and Philly did it as well against the Heat.
