I think this will be the most entertaining game on the board tonight. It's the battle of BIG vs small. We'll get to see the most dynamic back court in the league vs a team with two of the most dominant big men in the league.
The Blazers have been the highest scoring team this month at 119 PPG while the Pelicans sit 101 PPG. I think that both teams will be dominant in their strong suit and the game should be a back and forth battle.
I think it's more likely that the pace plays more towards Portland than it does New Orleans just because I think the Pelicans will have ample opportunity for points against a Portland defense that's been better but still not amazing. The Pels struggle at defending guards and right now Lillard and McCollum are playing with the most confidence they have all year and as Lillard mentioned, playing with a lot of pride.
Nurkic has been the single biggest factor to what Portland's been able to do lately. He not only gives them a legitimate post game now, but he's just a multi faceted guy. He's got a pretty good mid range jump shot along with good vision and passing skills.
Plumlee never drew any attention other than his man, and teams were able to over commit on Lillard and McCollum, but with Nurkic, sometimes teams find themselves having to over commit on him which results in easy buckets for his teammates. It's a huge reason why McCollum is shooting over 50% in FG and 3PT in the month of March.
Cousins and Davis have both historically dominated Portland and I think stylistically, this is a game where the Pelicans should have a bigger advantage than they've had against similar styled teams like Utah and San Antonio. I think points will come much easier tonight.
Who wins, is a huge toss up for me. Portland's been playing well lately, but kind of like the Wizards, their defense is a liability. While being tops in the league this month in scoring along with a 5-1 record, their margin of victory is only six and that's been against a pretty weak schedule. It could also be a look ahead game as they've got the Spurs tomorrow night.
This game in my opinion is literally identical to the Wizards/Wolves game last night and I think has a real chance at playing out exactly the same way. I'm still only locked in on the over, but for any of those who want my opinion on a side, I think the Pelicans have a good shot at taking this game.

They're some tough freakin games tonight. I'd most definitely lean Pacers and probably the under.
I'd lean OKC. I had Brooklyn against New York, but it was purely situational. There's no way they come close to matching that kind of performance tonight.
Also NY might be getting a lot of snow. Even if they don't cancel the game it may make the crowds rather thin, and games with crappy weather already give the mood a lazy feel. Factor in the chance of a small crowd, I like the unders in these situations.
Lot of points for the Sixers. Warriors have not been good AT ALL.
It's been said that Kerr is hoping some of the rest and the two days off can refocus GS. They do play their best on two days rest.

Well said.
I'm leaning Pelicans -3.5 (I think it will move to -4 soon) but the Over also has some appeal.
Best of luck tonight.

This play sounds legit. Could be one of those free styling games sort of like an All star match up with a ton of scoring . May reach in the 230's. Looks good ..

Thanks and yeah, I'd like to think that it has a chance to be that way.
The Pelicans haven't been great offensively, but when you're still trying to gel and find things that work for you on the fly, playing similar styled teams who are better at that style, it can be tough.
This game may almost feel like a night off at the gym, in a way.

Two things I don't like, the pelicans and blazers are 3and 7 under in their last 10 Meetings, and New Orleans is 2 ov and 8 unders last 10 vs the NBA. With that said portland is a over team and if they can keep this game an up and down game IMO you got a good shot to win your total, an you need Davis to come up big for you, At this time I am passing. Good luck tonight, ff. P.S. your a great caper so don't go by me please. I just gave you my opinion.

I hear ya. I see that too, but you have to look at the teams that the Pelicans played at the time they played them. In my opinion looking at them being 2-8 in over under's short changes the over and is why most everyone will be on the under.

I respect your opinion highly. It was "mostly" just a shoutout and a hello :) and just wanted to see what you thought. You're a great capper yourself and this is how we learn and grow. Thanks for your insight. FF

I took a look for you, and just posted what jumped out at me, I could bet the over on a lot of games even with stats that say the under, just going on what you said. Look at the yeams the pelicans played on the under streak, I agree with you, in my post back to you I only said two things bothered me and I gave you the two under thrends, it's still a pass for me. I can see this go either way. You know I want you to win, ff.

How much do trends weigh into your decision making on a regular basis?

We've got to get some Blazers +4 money...... Don't we?
Don't mean to clutter up your thread, but I am very close to a play on NOP -3.5
In your opinion, can I count on the line coming down at least a half point by tipoff? I am fine with laying 4 in this spot, but-3.5 gives the play a tiny bit of added value.
thanks, and best of luck tonight

I really should have locked in Pelicans at -3
