Not sure what the point of this thread is. Harden was 7/20 today. He takes poor shots and is only effective when he gets to the line, which is often. As his career goes on and his penetration skills deterioate he will be an highly overpaid liability as he free throws won't be there...only the bad shots.
You're kiddin, right? True he's only average defensively, but does it all on offense. You should look up his shooting %'s taking into acct both 2's & 3's. Also a much better passer now & leads the league in assists at his position, gets steals/boards, drives & finishes or gets fouled & hits close to 90% of his freebies. What more would anyone want? Curry's amazing & a better pure shooter, but doesn't do as much as Harden overall & couldn't carry the Warriors the way Harden has the Rockets time & time again all year. Harden's the true MVP imo with Curry very close behind...
He's BELOW average defensively and those are capital letters.
7-20 shooting and 7 turnovers. Always gets to the line to make the box score look attractive. What he gives you in pts he gives back a lot in poor shot selection and yesterday, in turnovers.
One of the best scorers in the league. And that is because he gets to the line. As his career arc continues he better get to the line or else...
MVP? Tell me, do you honestly believe Curry or Lebron would ever get benched in an elimination game and have their teams mount a massive comeback in the playoffs (never mind it being an elimination game!) in their absence???
Yesterday, Harden had exactly one basket in the second and third quarters (and tons of misses his team made up for). Then he turned it on when they were up by 16-18 in the fourth and penetrated penetrated penetrated and got to the line as expected (and there was a ridiculously bad call on Redick in the 4th where JJ might have grazed the tip of his elbow and Harden fell on his a**).
He's an MVP on the Rockets, not of the league.

Hey cashin look at the stats buddy. Curry leads him in EVERY offensive category except in ppg. You wanna know why he doesn't lead in that category, because he sat out almost 20% of the fourth quarters this year. Look at the stats and most importantly look at the head to head wins/losses with his team. It's not even close. The reason why people like harden is because he is this generations Tracy McGrady, no defense, lots of hype and mr. Me type player. The MVP in my eyes was Westbrook this year. His stats were out of this world and he was the only superstar that didn't have another one supporting him all year. He was a beast. Not the best of shooters but he would dominate both of these guys what to head because he play defense. Back to harden.....in this era, he's a superstar, in any other era, he gets stopped because he can't go right. They don't play defense in this era because it's all about points. He scores a lot no doubt but to compare him to curry.....that shows me there isn't much sense there cashin. Thanks for the effort here but ya came up short just like harden will in these conf. Finals.
Well alot of what you say is true & a good MVP case could be made for Harden, Curry, Westbrook & James. To me this yr it should have been Harden. Howard (now there's an overrated guy for you) was out for over a qtr of the year & the role players were very spotty at best. He basically had to carry the team for much of the year & where are they? Right..wc finals baby.
Don't get me wrong..I love Curry & think he's a phenom but seems he had another high scorer who helps spread the floor named Thompson with him.. along with arguably the best & deepest overall roster in the league. As far as stats, Harden averaged almost 4 pts more pg & Curry led slightly in assists...7.7 to 7.0. Like I said, great arguments could be made for all 4 of those guys...just liked Harden for it this year. As a Rockets fan, am I possibly a tad biased? Probably, lol.

He had a bad flu bug...but he or the Rockets just didn't play it up big like alot of guys/tms would. And yes, his shooting touch has been off some lately (everyone's shot goes off at times..including Curry, Jordan, etc), but instead of holing up he was able to do other things to help his team advance...another sign of a great player. And now being able to drive & get to the line is somehow a makeup or bad thing??
Agree the call on Redick was a bad one but so what...guys get calls like that all the time. GS better hope JH doesn't start stickin his jumpers regularly again or it could get more interesting than they'd like.
