31-20...in favor yes.
The legality of wagering now in the states will now bring so much extra scrutiny on close calls in the NBA Finals going into the NFL season...NJ is slated to open end of the month for the finals. The lines will become more mainstream and then the leagues will implement (if they already haven't) a way to "ensure" fans the games are not being rigged.
Of course, every game is not rigged. Sure, college games are somewhat easier to fix for one side, but the professional leagues are going to try to convince us right away that the "integrity" will remain the same.
Even though they've been planning this for years and even experimenting with it in the UK (NBA in London/NFL at Wembley), they are in on it and cashing out at the correct time. The Raiders going to Vegas isn't so taboo now, but it only helped the argument for implementing the law change now.
The "integrity fee" on all our wagers will be a fat cut for their wallets. They don't give a shit but selling us a story line or figuring out a way to retain eyeballs past halftime -- they might not care who necessarily wins and by how much -- but they obviously want to maximize profit in high volume situations.
That means refs keeping the game somewhat close throughout the game ...(is the home team about to go up by 20+ in the mid 3rd quarter? refs will be sure to keep eye balls on a high market game by being lenient to the losing side in both NBA and NFL)...It also means players becoming more aware of the betting game, i don't think professional athletes will be bothered by this. They have too much to lose to be gambling on their own games now...i'm curious how prop bets will be affected though.
But we'll see...lots of money to be made on both sides of the table.
