If Sterling didnt have abhorrent history that he has, he probably could have gotten out of this with just a hefty fine. But this guy(Sterling) is a complete and utter fool and NBA risked becoming completely unraveled had they not imposed what they did.

The NBA had to do something to appease its players, but is forcing an 80 yr old guy to accept a cheque for $500+ million really a penalty?
Haha you think it is only $500 million, he will get a billion for his franchise and who knows what else from the NBA.... Forcing a guy to sell his team for comments he made that were obtained illegally!!! If his civil liberties haven't been violated than I am not sure I understand what the purpose of ACLU is.
Look is the guy an ahole, absolutely but where anywhere in this country can we force someone to sell anything because they have an opinion that is different from the majorities..... Hell freaking George Zimmerman (right or wrong) shot a kid and kept his gun because they had no right to take it from him, now your telling me an owner makes some derogatory remarks and he can have his team taken from him!!! Jay-Z was wearing a chain with the symbol of the Five Percent religion that believes that black men are the only ones that comes from God and that white people are evil and inferior. Let's make him sell the Nets!!!
This countries priorities are so screwed up and backwards it is down right laughable. This guy was dating a half black girl, donated millions of dollars to the NAACP and was a huge campaign supporter (especially financially) of our first black president!!!
The NBA needs to think long and hard about this, they are so off the mark here and if they stick to this they will get the garbage sued out of them.
