blasphemy you didn't list the 92 or 93 Cowboys.... dvoa was historically all-time great. One of the best offensive lines ever, historically dominant defense with a highly highly effecient offense. HOF'ers across the board....coaching staff. Only reason 94 Niners team won that year was because Jimmy Johnson was booted and Prime time went to Niners.
either of those teams, hell even the 95 Switzer team with Prime, would absolutely wax the floor with this years Niners team. The trenches, offensive and defensively there is no comparison to 2023 Niners or any team in today's salary cap strapped parity filled NFL.

2001 Patriots were clearly the best of the Patriot dynasty. 98 Broncos were better than the 97 Broncos and belong on the list. 86 Giants clearly belong, as does one or both of the Jimmy Johnson Cowboy teams. The 1973 Dolphins too. Most underrated team maybe ever. Overshadowed by the undefeated team in 1972. The 1973 version was better than the 72 team.
The 1999 Rams and 1979 Steelers don’t belong. Maybe if I got thru to #32 meticulously, I’m wrong about the Rams, but a big con was barely surviving both in the NFC Championship game and Super Bowl- hardly the look of an all-time team. And the 79 Steelers were garbage compared to their other teams throughout the 70s, even a few that didn’t get to the SB.

Yes I don't know how I could have forgotten the Dallas teams of the 90s, those 90's NFC Chamionship battles between the Niners and Cowboys were something else.
I dont think thr 2007 Patriots belong because they lost the Super Bowl. Others may disagree.

Top 20 in the Super Bowl era (chronological order). Really easy for me, and the only quandary for me was deciding to include 2013 Seattle rather than 1971 Dallas.
-1966 Packers
-1972 Dolphins
-1973 Dolphins
-1975 Steelers
-1976 Raiders
-1977 Cowboys
-1978 Steelers
-1983 Raiders
-1984 49ers
-1985 Bears
-1986 Giants
-1989 49ers
-1991 Redskins
-1992 Cowboys
-1993 Cowboys
-1994 49ers
-1996 Packers
-1998 Broncos
-2003 Patriots
-2013 Seahawks

Shocking that this list wasnt 32 seasons of the 49ers?
It is impossible to compare eras because the game changed, rules changed and the dynamic is completely different. The 60s and 70s teams would have been run off the track with current teams and current rules, the athleticism of players now is far different than the golden era.
I prefer the 70s and 80s teams because the evolution of the offense was unfolding, the defenses were evolving and yet there were still the hard nose in the trenches line players who dominated.
I dont think current QB's would survive what guys like Bradshaw, Staubach, Tarkenton, Elway, Marino etc went through and what current running back even in the last ten years is comparable to the previous eras?
The game has sold out to make money, the grit and sport of the game isnt there now. To make a list comparing different eras and which is better is humorous but I prefer the teams from eras where they WOULD play the game today, not postpone it and players would perform in horrible conditions no matter how cold or how much snow.
