Thanks Red. . Its always great when Cowboys and Skins fans can get along.
Regarding your question, probably not as long as you think. I've been obsessed with football since I can remember, started watching when I was 5 and can remember pieces of most games. Played the game (not at high level). I was the kid drawing up playbooks and shit cause I was bored in high school classes. The drunk guy at the sports bar you see yelling at the TV because a coach makes a ridiculous call or an o-lineman blows a block, or any other mental mistake that affects the outcome of football games? Yep, thats me.
I actually only started betting 3 years ago, in the 2006 season. Before that I made exactly one bet in my life when I was in college (the bar manager at a place I worked at was a bookie and he was giving me shit I didnt have the balls to bet the Superbowl despite the fact football was all I talked about. That game was the Super Bowl, and without even blinking I told him I was putting 200 down on Tampa straight up. He asked if I was sure, and I said, well considering Gruden put that team together, its a no brainer. From there, I was that guy who won alot of fantasy leagues and usually the office pool to feed my obsession.
Now, before you all think I'm bragging or long winded (which is definetly true), let me tell you that in the 2006 and a better part of the 2007 season I was the biggest square bettor in history. I didnt have alot of money at the time, and was really cocky, so I bet almost stricly parlays and teasers thinking I would put minimal down and get a big pay day. I didnt keep track back then but I can tell you at least 50 times I lost a parlay or teaser by one game. I routinetly fell into traps. Experienced countless mooses. Wrote a blog about it, I was pissed. I learned, the hard way.
ANYway, I learned my lessons. Started actually paying attention to stats, trap games, sandwhich games, basically doing more research than purely relying on my perceived football knowledge and what I saw with my own eyes. Started betting mostly straight bets, and won a little bit.
This year I started documenting every bet, playing less teasers, parlays, etc (although I still cant resist at least one a week). I'm up for the year, actually winning some cash instead of constantly re-loading my account like a God Damn square.
To answer your question, my NFL and College ATS record this year is 63-41, roughly 60%. Some bad beats, some lucky wins, some outright mooses. My covers NFL/College posted record is 14-11 with +14 units of profit (largely due to going 3-0 so far on big bets. Ive tended to do better on games where I have a long winded write up, so heres hoping Im lucky this week as this thread is full of them.
Sorry for the life story, I used to be a writer

I was all over Pitt with you and that was money but a little to close for my liking. When that retard Lewis kicked a FG with 6:50 left and the game 20-7 I was flipping out cause i had Pitt at -11. Thank God Pitt scored again and then Polamalu had the pick.
Heres my final card:
Pitt - 11
New England +2
Baltimore 0
NYG - 3 (against you here and buying 1/2 point)
Washington - 3 (buying half a point)
Sd - 2.5 (only if I am winning on the day as I hate betting on this team)
