Dolphins have only made playoffs once in the last 12 years (in 2016).
Last year they were 10-5 heading into a week 17 showdown with the Bills. Win and the dolphins would make playoffs.
They lost by 30, 56-26...and missed playoffs. With 6:27 left in the game and buffalo on top 49-19, Matt Barkley came in for the Bills and threw a 56 yard bomb to Gabriel Davis to put them up 56-19...
I love a good revenge angle. Looking at Miami +3.5 and sprinkle on the ML, but no plays made yet. Would've been a lot better if Bills beat Steelers last week. Just something to consider if wagering this game

a few years ago Seahawks were up 47-17 on the Bills and used a fake punt on a 4th and 4 to convert a first down. But that was an inter-conference game. Revenge might be more of a factor with a division opponent. I happen to like MIA for other reasons, anyway.

Interesting point.

@Biscuit - absolutely agree, with it being a div opponent makes this a stronger angle. I like the culture that Brian Flores has brought to the program, especially following the Adam Gase experiment. I have to believe Flores is not letting his players forget about that week 17 game ahead of this one

Finz fan here. MIA has been very good at one thing going back to last season, creating TOs. It's why they won last week and probably half the games last year. Listen, we all know win the TO battle you'll put yourself in a position to win the game. But for MIA it's even more critical. The other half of the games they won last year was thanks to Fitzs' heroics. He's gone, and for now at least, this MIA offense is far more conservative, and with a QB in really his first full season, that includes preseason and preparation. I don't expect that to change...yet. Nor do they have a great running game, it's a young offensive line learning to play together. Do they remember the blowout in Buffalo? I'm sure. But they must create TOs while taking care of the ball themselves, otherwise, can't see them winning. One intangible, the weather. Forecast game time, 88 degrees, 73 percent humidity. Tampa Bay here, that's hot and muggy. 2nd half will be a war of attrition, for both teams against the sweltering heat of Mother Nature. And the ball and your hands can get slippery, I play alot of basketball in it. Whoever wins the TO battle, again moreso in this game, Wins. Period. My prediction? Buffalo wins, close game, 24-20 type of game. Should it come down to FGs, oops, curve ball, my money is on Jason Sanders, the best kicker in the NFL, and a Miami Dolphin, and a legit "not so secret weapon."

Buffalo fan here.....I think this game comes down to a field goal. Miami is better at causing turnovers and if they can take Diggs out of the game they have a good chance of winning. BUF has a weak running game. Buffalo and the public believe in the "hype" of 2021 SuperBowl Contender dreams! Pressure of the new multiple year QB contract may prove to be too much for Josh Allen. I think he regresses this year.

He, Allen, regressed last week. But still a big time talent. I think we agree on a close game, that being the case, if it's in Sanders hand, erhh...foot, game over. Not a good game to bet on, there are better plays this week IMO.

Russo, Value - thanks for the input, all good points. I’ve always liked the weather factor on early season games in Florida. Added bonus, but some of those other factors concern me.
IF bills had beat Steelers last week, and dolphins had lost to Pats like they prob should have, then this would be a bet for me (especially most likely getting a better line). But at +3.5 it’s close and why it is only in consideration at the moment… might wait it out and hope for a better live line, see if bills score first

Careful with this one ..Allen usually eats up the Phins ..Believe he has 21 totals TDS and only 4 ints ( 1 on hail mary before half / 2 off WRS hands = could be wrong though .)
BILLS OC daboll called one of the worst game plans I've ever seen last week ...Left Allen out to dry with no blocking help despite the Steelers getting tons of penetration...Singletary inexcusably was not given consecutive touches until there was 8 minutes left ...He averaged 6.5 YPC and should have been used to pass Block( one of his specialities)
BILLS defense dominated the first half 10-0 , holding Pittsburgh to 54 yards ..
I could be wrong ( often the case according to the MRS.) , But I think the BILLS win by double digits in a possible big blowout ....
MIAIMI is the favorite road destination of BILLS Mafia , expect 50% of the crowd to be wearing Red , White and Blue ....If it was up to me the BILLS would play all their home games in Miami ..The offense is built for the heat ( defenses usually wilt) ...
Best of luck BROTHERS

I have to imagine a lot of tickets coming in on Buffalo. If that line doesn’t move off +3.5, I think it will be telling and Miami is in play. If that thing does go to 4/4.5 I’d be more leery of a bills blowout.. just gut. Tea leaf reading, it’s not perfect

I don't think this line goes up from 3.5. There's too much "sharp money" on the home division dog. Yea yea, "what's sharp money"??
I bet there's more tickets on Buf this week than any other side. Books will need Mia big, and I think they're comfortable needing that, even with this number.
The Saints Carolina game is a similar situation.
Personally, I think you make $$ in the long run betting the uglier home division dog with the short number. But maybe that's old fashioned.

@Bandit7 You should have been around 20 years ago. Home division dogs, home dogs, cash cows. Still a good play but not like it was
@mrusso
That was my dad's favorite angle in the 70's to mid 80's ....
Except when the BUFFALO played at MIAMI for 20 years ..
.From 1967 through 1986 the Dolphins owned the BILLS ...Believe Miami went 35-4-1 straight up or something like that ....My pops brings it up all the time during Dolphins week ...
