I always liked the Patriots ever since Brady was their QB minus that year when they beat the Rams as I was a huge rams fan.  The patriots win every single year.  Early on, it was their defense that did everything.  Their offense early on was never that good, they rarely had big plays.

I always liked the patriots because they seem to win the right way.  I did recall that season when they went undefeated in the regular season and was basically unstoppable on offense.  The greatest show on turf rams was the best offense i ever seen and what the patriots did back then was just unbelievable.  But greatest show on turf rams to me is still best offense ever.  But every season after that one it seemed, they never put up the kind of points they did in that big offensive season.

Now when you look at the patriots, the one thing that back then i never noticed was their margin of victory.  The thing is they always win at least 10 games every season and win their division almost every single season.  But when i look at who they play against, the worst division in football... well people say the same thing.  They play the dolphins, bills and jets and their record is skewed because of this.  I didn't think much of that but it definitely is true.  I mean would they have that record if they play in any other division?  I doubt it.  The other thing is this.  I have rarely seen them blow teams out.  Yes its the nfl... but when you are the best team in the nfl, surely you blow teams out every now and then right?  Yes they do blow out the jets and bills, but rarely they ever win by double digits.  For a team that is good, is anyone here shocked that every super bowl they played has been a close game?  Every game has been decided by 3 points or less besides the last few which were all very close till the end.

They never beat a team convincingly in a superbowl once.  By that i mean like lead by 10 points or more at the half or most importantly, win by double digits except the last one which they probably should have won by 7 if it wasn't for that missed fg by the rams.  Why have they not once won a super bowl like 42-20 or something like that?  The cowboys, 49ers and other teams have won super bowls by blowouts.  So the best nfl team ever who played in 9 super bowls and won 6... not once have they won convincingly.  The rams had it tied 3-3 late and if they didn't mess up, they could have gotten the lead.  The rams played as bad as you can the entire 1st half and early in the 2nd half... the Pats only scored 3 points the entire time.  If you look at the stats, you would figure they are up minimum 2 touchdowns.

So many of these superbowls could have gotten either way.  Brady gotten lucky by other teams mistakes... yes he has gotten unlucky against the giants with that catch... but when you look at all the things, the coins flip much more in their favor vs the other teams.

Back then i thought tom brady was a game manager.  Then what he did in 07... well not anymore with how much they scored.  After that, he didn't ever put up numbers like that.  But he's still very good when you look at his td/int stats.  He always seems to be clutch at the end which is the most important thing of all.  I mean they were down 10 points against the jaguars in the title game last year and came back and won.  He is very clutch.  But is there a reason why he does not dominate from start to finish?  That way, he doesn't need to make a comeback at the end?  They always say how Brady has so many comebacks to win games.  Sure thats great... but how is your team the best ever when you keep playing from behind?  I thought the pats were gonna lose against the rams when watching the game because i thought how could you guys play this bad when the rams are playing the worst they could ever play.  I thought this is going to bite the pats in the end... but what happens,... the pats come through.

When i think of dominant teams, i think of the yankees, lakers and spurs because when they win, they win convincingly.  When the yankees won the ws, they don't need to play 7 games.  They win by a couple of runs.  The lakers would win 4-2 or 4-1 in the nba title.  Even the spurs... who people dislike... even though they win, they don't win by a nailbitter.  They win pretty convincingly.

Anyone agree/disagree on this?  I always liked tom brady but the more that i look at it, i really think its the system they have in place.  I think if you put brady in any other team, i don't believe he would have this much success in at all.  I mean look at players who are no longer in new england.  They are basically nobody anywhere else.  Yet when you look at the guys on the patriots roster, do you think they would success in any other team?  I can't imagine edelman being this good in say pittsburgh or say denver.

They simply have the best team name in all of sports. They have benefitted MORE from the name "Patriots" than anyone cares ot admit.

Every time there's a major scandal or war, they seem to win a super bowl. funny, huh ?

Every time there's a major scandal or war, they seem to win a super bowl. funny, huh ?

I think Brady would have serious success anywhere with some decent options in the receiving game. He absolutely shredded the league the one time he had a top WR in Randy Moss. Usually he's working with sub-par receivers. He's always great at connecting with good receivers like Edelman/in form Gronk/Moss/etc.

So no he's not a system guy. But they do have a great system in New England which obviously helps him.

The only thing he needs is good pass protection (because he's an immobile passer, they all need that) and decent receivers. He'll always be a top NFL QB under those circumstances.

Let’s just be honest here. Pats are definitely a dynasty, they’re a phenomenal team coached by a mastermind, they’re very patient with there approach,no moment is to big for them seems like. But let’s be real here...

They’re very very fortunate way more times then not. Better to be lucky then good. Well guess what? They’re lucky and damn GOOD

They seem to be lucky simply because they're very good and that makes things naturally go their way. No one just magically gets super lucky, it doesn't work that way.

There is no such thing as luck. Everything is playing out it's script. Luck is an illusion. You create your own reality with your mind set. I agree Patriots are an average team. I doubt they would win any super bowls if NFL just let the teams play, But who knows, they all seem equally talented. They're like machines, they can catch any pass they want to. And all the dropped passes are scripted. I think rarely they do mess up and you can tell by what the commentator says (I believe they know the script) after the play. Then they just make up for it on the next play. I see right through the entire act. But just as people said before the game, Patriots were a LOCK to win, and they were proved right. The script played out just as planned. I was just the idiot who managed to somehow NOT bet the Patroits, even knowing the connections and that they would likely win (I never thought they would cover though) Next time I am not going to over think it. I was due to lose a SB this year, as things come in streaks and I just lost last year. So I was expecting 2 in a row. (as I was coming off a 10-0 streak before that)

You're just becoming tiresome at this point. Nothing average about that team you're being so stupid and ignorant here it's frustrating. This is even way sillier than your claim that you couldn't see how Rams +2.5 can lose because there's no way the linesmakers could be so wrong and the public was on Patriots. At least that argument could seem convincing before the game.

This one? There's no saving grace. You're just flat out acting dumb if you really believe Patriots are a mediocre team. Wow.

But come on! They always seem to get the benefit of the doubt in the biggest games. On top of my head...

Jesse James ruled not a catch GTFO,Myles Jack ruled down in the AFC title game on the fumble he was going to walk in to make it 27-10 Jags,Tuck Rule haha,They get so many phantom PI’s and key holds magically go there way! It’s really ridiculous. They had 3 pivotal calls go there way a lone against KC....

Edelman touch on the punt,Hogan ruled a catch, the phantom roughing the passer haha then just pure luck! Brady tosses his 3rd pick to seal the game, but wait! D Ford was offsides! They also always seem to win coin tosses in OT in the biggest games! Just a ton of luck man

What about the five Super Bowls they have lost? Being called the Patriots didn't benefit them then. The franchise has lost almost as many Bowls as they have won.

They couldn’t go over the hump for a decade prior to this run they’ve been on lately as well. Law of averages! But to say they’re not a very very lucky team would be lying to yourself. Not hating, not discrediting, just being realistic

They haven’t lost 5 Super Bowls. They’ve lost 3 superbowls in the Brady/Belicheat era. They should of lost 5 superbowls though? Seahawks n Falcons both beat themselves in so many ways it’s sick. LUCK! They only lose to the NFC East i guess haha

You clearly have never played a sport. The guys who talk that, "Guys only drop passes, only miss shots, because it's scripted." When gus talk about leagues influencing outcomes, I ssy you may be on to something. When guys say it's 100% scripted, I just laugh. You have no idea the shear amount of rehearsal that would take. And you guys can never answer the why? Sure pushing the Patriots through maybe is better for the league. Like the Lakers. Like the Yankees. Yet how really is scripting it all, with all the extra effort that takes, how does it make you more profitable? If it's scripted, they need to fire the writers because they suck.

It might seem like luck, but no one just gets lucky over and over. It just doesn't happen, luck doesn't work that way. It's unreliable, you can't consistently be lucky over and over and over. That makes no sense. The fact that it's a consistent pattern means there's more to it than just luck.

Every team in the league wishes they were that mediocre...
Is this some kind of joke? 13 AFC Championship games in 19 years and 8 in a row? In an era where parity is the objective at every turn. Draft no better than 28th each year, usually 30th. When the Pats schedule comes out, it comes with a bye and divisional playoff & Championship game listed as TBA.

I agree they are lucky but they don't beat themselves. Have you ever seen them have a penalty where a D-linemen is a foot offsides? Do they ever have a Bell or Brown situation on their hands EVER? They draft Edelman at 232nd and the GOAT at 199th... Smart, team guys, certainly there are exceptions but they seem to disappear quickly, they don't depend on a Bell or Brown BECAUSE THEY'RE SELFISH AND UNDEPENDABLE.

It's insulting and I agree with NN and I'll be nice dumb... I bet against them in the 2 playoff games but after taking down Rivers in what looked like "his year" and then the MVP of the league, how can you bet the Rams when they stole that ticket into the SB... If NE was -3 from the beginning, I go big on them, but the line look like the fix was in again for the RAMS. Talk about luck, 2 refs went blind to keep them in that game. There's never been anything like that while I've been watching football, 50 years now.

No doubt the Patriots are very fortunate and the other team seems to constantly help them (D Ford & Carroll pass on the 1 yard line), but you can't blame the Patriots for that.

Well I’d call Pete Carrol not running beast mode luck,I’d call falcons up 28-20 late 4th qtr with the ball in Matt Bryant’s field goal range followed by 2 straight drop back passes and then a magical clear phantom hold something? I don’t think that was luck. I really don’t know wtf to call that? I’d call D Ford being lined up offsides luck? I’d call 3 pivotal calls go there way luck. I’d call Tuck Rule luck? I’d call Myles Jack being ruled down luck?

I assumed we were talking the Brady era? If so,they’ve lost 3 in his time. Not the late 90’s when they lost to Favre in the Packers

I’d call Drew Bledsoe’s injury luck? Whatever you want to call some of this stuff. Some seems luck, some seems biased, some seems super shady. Just saying! The Jags title game loss was super super shady. The tuck rule was super shady. Spygate was beyond shady. The Falcons so called collapse seemed rigged to me? I was on the Pats that game as well. Just seemed setup. I don’t think any team even in high school is that ignorant to not run the ball in field goal range late up 28-20

not much to add, but as a longtime Dolphin supporter, the reason the rest of the division stinks is because the Patriots have destroyed them. These teams haven't always sucked. Buffalo even made the playoffs last year. Miami the year before. But being constantly outmatched for at least a decade has had an affect on these organizations. they hire and fire coaches willy-nilly. they draft poorly. the patriots have broken these teams. they approach the game like losers. the patriots deserve credit for their domination of the division and for the virtual destruction of these franchises. it's one of the major reasons for their success.

Just seemed setup. I don’t think any team even in high school is that ignorant to not run the ball in field goal range late up 28-20

Its funny that on Sunday there was a similar situation as in this game vs Atlanta.    New England just intercepted with about 4 minutes and change (same as Atlanta game) .  Yet NE managed to run the ball on 1st and 2nd. Atlanta on the other hand decides to throw on first down incomplete stopping the clock, then does it AGAIN on second down , getting sacked and then the holding call pushing them out of field goal range.    It does not get more shady than this.  I am definately starting to believe that we watching a script , a theater and that certain 'societies' are at play here.
